Jimmy Kimmel returned to the air last night following a week of controversy, and viewers have noticed that he didn't do one specific thing.

The comedian opened the show with a lighthearted jab at former President Donald Trump.

But he quickly transitioned to a serious and emotional discussion about the controversy that led to his suspension, the murder of Kirk, and the widow's remarkable message of forgiveness.

People Spot Thing Jimmy Kimmel Didn't Do

While Kimmel's speech had moments of comedy and a poignant moment where he spoke about Erika Kirk, he also seemed to miss something out.

Given that he was taken off air after some deemed his comments about Charlie Kirk to be insensitive, viewers noted that he didn't apologize.

Kimmel said: "I want to make something clear, because it's important to me as a human, and that is - you understand that it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man."

He continued: "I don't think there's anything funny about it. I posted a message on Instagram on the day he was killed sending love to his family and asking for compassion and I meant it.

"And I still do. Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group for the actions of what -- it was a deeply disturbed individual.

"That was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make, but to some, that felt ill-timed or unclear or maybe both, and for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you're upset."

But one thing people can't seem to get over is the lack of the word, sorry.

One person wrote: "The 'apology' portion of Kimmel's monologue contains no actual apology and tries to elude responsibility for the smearing of half the country with a bold-faced lie."

A second said: "No apology. He wasn’t making a joke. He outright lied about the killer because he hated the politics of the victim."

Some disagreed and noted that his emotional speech was an apology in itself without actually saying the word sorry.

One person said: "Jimmy Kimmel nailed it. The most heartfelt apology whilst delivering the classiest f*** you I ever did hear."

A Tearful Tribute to Erika Kirk’s Forgiveness

Kimmel’s tone turned somber as he spoke about Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow, who shared a powerful message of forgiveness at her husband's memorial service.

Kimmel, visibly moved, praised her for her strength and grace in the face of such a devastating loss.

"Erika Kirk forgave the man who shot her husband. She forgave him," Kimmel said, his voice breaking. "That is an example we should follow."

Kimmel went on to explain how deeply her message of forgiveness resonated with him.

"If you believe in the teachings of Jesus as I do, there it was. That's it. A selfless act of grace, forgiveness from a grieving widow," Kimmel added.

He then shared his hope that others could take this example of grace to heart.

"If there's anything we should take from this tragedy to carry forward, I hope it can be that and not this," Kimmel concluded.
