Rachel Yaffe, a popular TikTok star, has sadly passed away at age 27.

The content creator, from Maryland, US, died on Friday (October 11) following a seven-year fight with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma - a liver cancer that only affects around 200 people in the world each year.

The young social media star - who boasted over 60,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok - shared a poignant final update about feeling weak post-radiation treatment. She seemed positive in the clip but shared how her appetite was beginning to fade.

"I'm back in New York and I'm back in my apartment that makes me so happy to be in my own space again, but honestly it has not been easy being back here," she told her followers.

"I'm so grateful to be back in my space be surrounded by my friends. That alone has been really helpful for me mentally. I lost so much of my strength when I was getting radiation and I'm starting from day one," she continued. "It's been so hard for me to get up and force myself to move so I'm working on doing that, thankfully it's easier to walk around here being in the city."

Yaffe said she was "working really hard to stick to a very strict food regimen for cancer healing that is also taking up a lot of energy," adding: "I am occasionally at a pretty low appetite so it's been a little bit difficult both physically and mentally but I'm working on really just focusing on the small things that bring me joy and really, really prioritizing my mental health as well."

"That's kind of the update of where I'm at right now," she concluded the video.

The video has since been flooded with messages and tributes from fans expressing their condolences.

"Rest in peace. You were so young," one user wrote, while another said: "RIP beautiful woman, thank you for being such a wonderful person."

"You were and you are an inspiration to everyone," a third commented. "Rest in peace, beautiful girl. I am so sorry the world lost your bright light."

Yaffe revealed on TikTok that she was diagnosed with extremely rare liver cancer after initially suspecting she was gluten intolerant.

After visiting a doctor, she was referred to a specialist who discovered a 20cm tumor in her liver, giving her the heartbreaking news she had stage four cancer.

The tumor was removed, but the cancer came back just a few months later, spreading to her liver and lungs.

According to Yaffe's obituary, she is survived by "her devoted parents, Linda (nee Bass) and Wayne Yaffe; cherished brother and sister, Jordan Yaffe and Jessica Yaffe; dear grandmother, Sydney Bass; and loving dog, Layla".

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
