Rod Stewart has been slammed after airing a "disrespectful" AI tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at his concert.
The 80-year-old rocker was performing live when he played a video depicting Osbourne in “Heaven” celebrating with other deceased music legends.
Set to Stewart’s 1988 hit Forever Young, the AI footage featured the late Black Sabbath frontman alongside the likes of Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Prince, Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, and George Michael.
The tribute also included digital recreations of Whitney Houston, Tupac Shakur, Freddie Mercury, Aaliyah, and XXXTentacion.
In one moment, Turner is seen holding a selfie stick while smiling with Osbourne. In another, Osbourne poses for a “heavenly selfie” with several of the other artists - an image that many found deeply unsettling.
Watch the video below:A video of the segment was shared online by a concertgoer and quickly went viral. “The most disrespectful sh** I ever saw in my life,” they wrote in overlay text.
In the caption, they added: “Yes the rumors are true: I went to a Rod Stewart concert last night (lol) and witnessed man made horrors beyond my comprehension. Ozzy Osbourne with a selfie stick in heaven smiling with Tina Turner, Bob Marley, Prince, and…XXXTentacion."
The backlash was swift as many users took to the comment section to share their reactions.
"So tacky. Keep AI in the memes," one person said, while another quipped: "Boomers love AI. You know someone like 65 is filming this at the other side of the venue and crying."
A third commented: "Weekend at Bernie’s vibes. Prince didn’t even want his music on Spotify and changed his name to a Symbol to protect his intellectual property I’m 100% sure he wouldn’t have signed off on Rod Stuart Puppeteering his face for this tacky."
And a fourth added: "The really infuriating thing is that a big chunk of society is already totally okay with this stuff. We are in big, big trouble."
However, not everyone found the tribute offensive, as one commenter said: "This ain't a bad video. People get butt hurt over everything."
"I think that it’s a nice tribute to all of them and shows that music really does cross every barrier and unifies us. Rock on!!" a second chimed in.
The 76-year-old legendary frontman of Black Sabbath died on July 22.
His family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a heartfelt statement: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
Following his passing, Stewart took to social media and penned: “Bye, bye Ozzy. Sleep well, my friend. I’ll see you up there - later rather than sooner.”
The legendary rocker's wife, Sharon, 72, and their children Aimee, 41, Kelly, 40, and Jack, 39, were seen in tears as thousands gathered in Birmingham on July 30 for the rock legend’s funeral procession.
He was laid to rest the following day beside the lake at his Buckinghamshire home, in a private service attended by family, friends, and fellow rock icons - including his Black Sabbath bandmates, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor.
