Sharon Osbourne opened up about Ozzy Osbourne's heartbreaking comment after he came off the stage at his final performance.
Ozzy, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman, passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, leaving behind a towering legacy in the world of heavy metal.
Just 17 days before his death, Ozzy performed in front of a crowd exceeding 40,000 fans at the 'Back to the Beginning' farewell concert in his hometown of Birmingham.
The event was more than a goodbye - it was a celebration of a career that shaped heavy metal music.
As Ozzy took the stage that night, he expressed his deep gratitude to the crowd, saying: “You've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
The concert not only provided fans a chance to say goodbye but also raised an astonishing $190 million for charity.
The proceeds were divided equally among Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Cure Parkinson’s, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Sharon Osbourne, his wife and longtime manager, recalled the emotional moment after the show, sharing a poignant 10-word message Ozzy had for her: “He turned around and he said to me that night, he said, ‘I had no idea that so many people liked me’.”
Sharon added: "Ozzy’s always been in his own bubble,” per Pollstar.
She emphasized the unique bond between Ozzy and his fans.
“Oh my God, the metal fans are the most loyal fans in the world! When they’re a fan, you’ve got them for life. They don’t go anywhere.”
She reflected on the farewell concert’s success, saying: “It was a huge success, because it was a phenomenal event. It was the first time, I think, that anybody’s gone into retirement and done it, where the show is streamed and it goes to charity.
"So it’s the first time anybody has said goodnight like that, it’s the perfect way, when you’ve had such a long career, to end it.”
Ozzy’s passing was later confirmed to be the result of a heart attack.
According to the death certificate submitted by his daughter, Aimée Rose Osbourne, the official cause of death was listed as cardiac arrest occurring outside of hospital, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction noted as joint causes.
Following his death, Birmingham, the city that shaped Ozzy and his music, gave the metal icon a moving send-off. On July 30, fans lined the streets as a hearse carrying Ozzy’s coffin traveled down Broad Street, with crowds chanting “Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy.”
The procession ended at Black Sabbath Bridge, a symbolic location honoring the band’s legendary influence.
Afterward, Ozzy was laid to rest near a lake on his Buckinghamshire estate, following a private church service attended by family and close friends.
