SNL took direct shots at Morgan Wallen over the weekend, following the country singer's sudden on-air exit during last week’s broadcast.
Last week, the 31-year-old country star stunned both viewers and cast members when he walked offstage the moment the credits began to roll - skipping the traditional end-of-show hugs and on-stage celebration.
Wallen had just performed his singles 'I’m the Problem' and 'Just in Case,' but instead of joining host Mikey Madison and the cast for the sign-off, he hugged the Oscar-winning actress and made a beeline toward the audience and out of frame.
Adding fuel to the mystery, Wallen later posted a photo of a private jet to his Instagram Story with the caption: “Get me to God’s Country.”

That phrase quickly went viral and became an instant meme - prompting responses from the Empire State Building and SNL writer John Patten, who shared a photo of a Krispy Kreme truck with the same caption.

But while fans online were entertained, insiders say the mood inside the studio was far from amused.
One SNL staffer told the Daily Mail that the Grammy-winning star was "unprofessional the entire time,” and claimed he had “a chip on his shoulder.”
According to the anonymous staffer, Wallen “seems to believe his own press,” and acted like a “massive star” who expected to be treated like SNL was “lucky to have him.”
When that energy wasn’t reciprocated, “he threw a tantrum,” the insider alleged, adding that his exit, and decision to skip the show’s iconic afterparty, was “completely disrespectful.”
“His post right after was a total slap in the face for the folks who work so hard on the show,” the source added.

Wallen’s dramatic walkout was mocked during last night's cold open segment, where James Austin Johnson, as President Donald Trump, listed off bizarre new tariffs before saying.
“Get me to God’s Country. Remember that, wow,” in a clear jab at the singer’s now-infamous post.
Later in the episode, Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost compared Wallen’s departure to the plunging stock market.
“Just in the past two days, investors have lost more than $6 trillion,” Jost said. “Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at good nights.”
Longtime cast member Kenan Thompson also weighed in on the situation in a recent interview, saying: “The ‘God’s country’ of it all is strange because it's like, what are you trying to say? You trying to say that we are not in God's country?" per Billboard.
"We're not all in God's country? We're not all under God's umbrella? That's not necessarily my favorite,” he added.
Thompson didn’t hold back, stating: "I don't know what goes through people's minds when they decide to do stuff like that. I don't know if he understood the assignment or not, or if he was really feeling a certain kind of way.”
Wallen has yet to publicly comment on the incident, but he’s clearly capitalizing on the attention as he's already launching a new line of “Get me to God’s Country” merch.
This isn’t the singer’s first clash with Saturday Night Live, as in October 2020, Wallen was removed from the show’s lineup after videos surfaced of him partying without a mask during the height of the pandemic.
At the time, he said: “My actions this past weekend were pretty shortsighted and they have obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams.” He returned to the show just two months later.
But this time, insiders say the fallout may be permanent. According to the same Daily Mail source, Wallen has now been “blackballed from ever appearing on SNL again".
