Spanish influencer Elena Huelva sadly died at just 20 years old following her battle with cancer and now fans are taking to her final Instagram post to share tributes.
In 2016, the 20-year-old was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing sarcoma which, according to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is a disease "that occurs in bones or in the soft tissue around the bones."
While it seems to still be unclear what causes the cancer, the clinic specified that it begins when "a cell develops changes in its DNA" and multiples to cause a tumor.
Since her diagnosis, Huelva used her Instagram account to document her medical journey, giving her 959,000+ followers insight into how her life had changed.
Unfortunately, she was recently told by doctors that her condition had gotten worse and that the illness had spread to her throat - making it difficult to breathe.
On January 3, it was announced that she had passed away in hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
"Since this morning, Elena dances and looks down at you from her star," wrote a family member on her Instagram story. "Thank you for everything."
Of course, fans were distraught at the news and now many are going back to her final Instagram post to leave heartfelt messages in tribute to the young influencer.
Taking to Instagram just hours before she passed away, the Seville native posted one final photo holding hands with her family - after managing to spend one last Christmas at home with them - alongside a heartbreaking caption for her fans.
Translated simply from Spanish, the caption read: "Today I woke up not in the best way, in fact, it was nothing good, very scary.
"These are very difficult days [and] they are becoming more and more complicated, but as you know I am stronger, and more complicated," she continued, throwing in a light-hearted emoji with the tongue sticking out. "I want you to know that I already won, a long time ago.
"We continue, always," she concluded before signing off with the title of her book, My Desires Win.
Comments poured in for the late social media star.
"Rest in peace warrior, you have been a great example for everyone. Shine bright princess," wrote one user.
"Always with you," added another.
Celebrity figures also left kind messages for Huelva with Spanish singer Omar Montes writing: "24 hours later and still can't seem to shake it in..." before following up with "I can't believe it rest in peace baby."
Model and fellow influencer, Mar Lucas Vilar also commented saying "Rest in peace Elena."
Huelva was a shining light, even during the darkest times in her own life.
