In the wake of his tragic death, Ken Block fans have been looking at the 55-year-old star's haunting final social media posts.
It was announced on Monday (January 2) that the iconic rally driver, who had previously appeared on Top Gear, had died due to injuries suffered following a snowmobile accident.
The sheriff's office in Utah's Wasatch County stated that Block was riding on a steep slope when the snowmobile turned over and landed on top of him, killing him at the scene.
Hoonigan Racing released a statement expressing their sadness at the loss of their teammate.
"It's with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today."
They continued: "Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed. Please respect the family’s privacy at this time while they grieve."
As per Sky News, the Sheriff's Office confirmed: "He [Block] was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident."
In the wake of the tragic accident, fans of the star have taken to social media to express their shock at the sudden news as well as discuss Block's final Instagram story posts.
"Such an ominous Instagram story from Ken Block. Damn, man. He’s really gone...", wrote one user.
"RIP Ken Block. Was watching his last story on Instagram," added another.
A third said: "Life is indeed short. Ken Block's last Instagram post. The rally superstar died shortly afterwards in a snowmobile accident."
Early on Monday the rally-driving champ appeared worried as he shared pictures of snowmobiles covered in "sketchy snow" on his Instagram Stories.
He wrote in the caption: "Sketchy and snowy drive with some great snowboard entertainment."
In the second image showing a vehicle almost entirely blanketed in snow, he said: "There's a canamoffroad X3 under there somewhere."
In another image showing a row of parked snowmobiles, he wrote: "Hell yeah!"
And eerily enough, just a week before the fatal accident took place, the Top Gear star shared pictures of him trying a new snowmobile in Idaho.
"It was my first day on my new ‘23 Ski-Doo Summit X Turbo, and this thing rips! Lots of power up at high elevations, and wheelies all day!
"Epic early season powder, and an amazing first day. Wheelies, deep pow turns, and a lot of learning on this new sled – good times!"
Block started his rally career back in 2005 and quickly became one of the most famous drivers in the world after he was named Rookie of the Year in the Rally America Championship.
According to his official Hoonigan profile, the 55-year-old has "also accumulated five X Games medals since the start of his career, including most recently taking silver at Global X Games Barcelona RallyCross in 2013."
He was also a trailblazer when it came to "shedding light on the sport of rally within the United States."
Block is survived by his wife Lucy and their three children.
Our thoughts and prayers and with the star's loved ones during this incredibly difficult period.
