A video of a man trying to propose to his girlfriend during a baseball game has gone viral for all the wrong reasons...

Now, proposal videos generally go one of two ways; in most cases, they're cute and emotional, with both parties agreeing to make probably the biggest commitment they're going to during their lifetimes. But sometimes, they don't go as planned and while it's a pretty unfortunate situation for the people involved, it always makes for a good watch for the rest of us.

One man decided he wanted to ask the big question to the love of his life during the LA Dodgers’ opening night Major League Baseball fixture but the security at Dodger Stadium was having none of it.

Taking to Twitter, user @Mazeaveli posted a video captioned "proposal gone wrong" which showed the man running onto the pitch and getting down on one knee.

He then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a little jewelry box presumably with a ring inside and looks up at his girlfriend to see her reaction.

Watch the viral moment below:

However, instead of letting him do what he had to do, security personnel run in on him from the side and slam into him, tackling him to the ground before securing his hands with cuffs.

In the clip, you can clearly hear someone in the crowd warn him to "get up" just seconds before he was violently slammed to the pitch.

That's gotta hurt.

Upon seeing the video, which has now been viewed over a million times, thousands took to the comments to express their opinions.

Some thought the tackle was "excessive" - which is probably an understatement.

"Dude should not be on the field," wrote this user. "But, he also shouldn’t be blindsided like that. C’mon!"

Another agreed writing: "What’s with the tackle? Yeah he shouldn’t be on the field, but I’m sure if they had asked asked him to leave he would have."

A third also added: "That was excessive."

However, not everyone was in agreement, with some pointing out that the man should have known better.

"Shouldn't be on the field, the right reaction from those stewards," this user responded while another added: "This is cute and all… but DON'T get on the field and assume they’re gonna walk you off nicely."

And others couldn't help but crack a joke or two about the entire situation.

"That security guard been waiting his whole life to do that. He wasn’t going to let it slip by," this user pointed out.

"Nothing like starting a marriage with criminal trespassing, a concussion, and being banned from Dodger stadium for life."

There have been no updates on whether the poor man was taken to jail or the hospital or whether his other half said yes or no, but let's just hope she recognized his efforts or it won't just be the tackle that was painful...

In any case, romance is definitely dead if you're a Dodgers Stadium security guard by the looks of it.
