Tragic details surrounding the death of Stephen 'tWitch' Boss have emerged after it was announced the star passed away on Tuesday aged 40.
After initial reports claimed he had been found dead at a hotel in Los Angeles, news of the professional dancer's death was confirmed on Wednesday by his wife, Allison Holker.
Speaking to PEOPLE just days after the pair celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary, Holker told the outlet that she's delivering the news with the "heaviest of hearts."
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," the 34-year-old said.
She continued: "To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt," she continued. "I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children."
"Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you," Allison concluded the emotional statement.
"Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans."
New details have since emerged about the circumstances surrounding the end of the TV star's life, after he died by suicide in a hotel room near to where he lived with his family in Encino, California.
The hotel where he died has confirmed it will temporarily suspend renting out rooms in the wake of his death, with the manager telling Us Weekly that no residents will be allowed to stay "for the next week."
An employee who was working there the night of the tragic incident also added that "everything was normal, nothing was weird."
However, when the 40-year-old failed to check out of his room the following morning, management went to check on him and that's when they discovered his body. Medical professionals were then called to the scene.
Meanwhile, TMZ reported that Boss' wife was left distressed after he stopped answering her calls. She immediately alerted the authorities about his "strange" behavior, before the heartbreaking call came through.
She had raised the alarm after finding that Boss had left home without his car, which was out of character for him and was unable to reach him over the phone.
Sources told TMZ that there was "no argument or issue" ahead of Boss leaving the home, and police had initially accompanied his wife back to the house to see if there were any clues as to where he went.
The insiders claimed Holker was "so insistent on how odd tWitch's behavior was", that his disappearance was treated as a "critical missing persons" case.
Initial reports suggested that Boss had taken his own life, which was later officially confirmed by the coroner.
As per PEOPLE, county officials have confirmed that the 40-year-old dancer died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at a motel in the Encino area of Los Angeles.
Following the heartbreaking news, Ellen DeGeneres paid tribute to her long-time friend and cast mate. Taking to Instagram, she told her followers that she was "heartbroken" over the news.
"tWitch was pure love and light," she wrote alongside a photo of the pair embracing. "He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children - Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia."
Boss was best known for his appearances on The Ellen Show, with his stint lasting from 2014 to 2022 when the show was eventually canceled. Beyond the daytime talk show, he was also a professional dancer, an actor, and a social media personality, best known for spreading positivity online.
Rest in peace. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
