Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have revealed that they actually got married in private three days before their public wedding.

According to The Daily Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the revelation during their candid and highly-publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in the United States on CBS last night (March 7).

During the deeply personal interview, the couple stated that they held a private so-called "union" in their back garden, with no other guests, and the Archbishop of Canterbury officiating, three days prior to their public wedding ceremony on May 19, 2018, in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Markle stated:

"You know, three days before our wedding, we got married. No one knows that."

She continued: "We called the Archbishop and we just said, 'Look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world but we want our union between us'.

"So, like, the vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury."

In the interview in question, Meghan also revealed that a member of the Royal household had expressed "concerns" regarding the skin tone of their son Archie prior to his birth.

This information visibly shocked Winfrey, who then asked: "There's a conversation [...] about how dark your baby is going to be?"

Meghan responded: "Potentially, and what that would mean or look like."

Markle did not reveal who was involved in those conversations, only stating that the press fallout from making their identities public would: "be very damaging to them", but she did add: "That was relayed to me from Harry. Those were conversations that the family had with him."

The 39-year-old former Suits actress also spoke to Oprah Winfrey about the pressure she felt while living as a member of British royalty, and the lack of support she felt she had experienced before she and Harry made the controversial and public decision to retire from their duties as senior Royals.

Per The Daily Telegraph, Markle stated: "We had to go to this event after I told Harry I didn't want to be alive anymore. In the pictures, I see how tightly his knuckles are gripped around mine. We are smiling, doing our job. In the Royal Box, when the lights went off, I was just weeping.

"I was really ashamed to have to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, but I knew that if I didn't say that I would do it. I just didn't want to be alive anymore."

Markle asked if it would be possible for her to seek professional help for her mental health, but was told by an official that she couldn't, "because it wouldn't be good for the institution."

She also spoke about how confined she felt after losing a lot of her personal freedoms as the Duchess of Sussex, stating: "When I joined the family that was the last time I saw my driver's license, my keys. All that gets handed over. It's not like you can get an Uber to come to the palace."
