Gayle King has claimed that Prince Harry has finally spoken to his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William about his controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey.

According to Insider, the CBS This Morning co-host, and personal friend of Meghan Markle, stated in an episode which aired on Tuesday, March 16, that she had spoken with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over the weekend.

During their catch up, she learned that Harry's recent conversation with his father and brother had not been productive.

Per Insider, King stated:

"It's true Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too.

"The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive. But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation."

King then told her fellow co-hosts about the couple's priorities in conducting their interview with Winfrey and added that although Harry has reached out to his family, none of them have yet been in contact with Markle.

King added:

"All they wanted all along was for the royals to intervene and tell the press to stop with the unfair, inaccurate, false stories that definitely have a racial slant.

"And until you can acknowledge that I think it's going to be hard to move forward but they want to move forward with this."

During the Oprah interview, which aired on CBS on Sunday, March 7, Markle spoke about a variety of subjects, including the pressures of going from being a celebrity actor to becoming a senior member of the Royal Family, her struggles with her mental health, and the scrutiny she fell under from the British tabloid media.

Markle also seemed to suggest that her son Archie had been the victim of racial prejudice from an unnamed member of the Royals, who allegedly raised "concerns" with Harry over the color of their then unborn child's skin.

However, Prince William denied the allegations and insisted that there is no element of racism within the Royal Family.

Per The Independent, a spokesperson for the Royal Family wrote in a subsequent statement: "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

"Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members."
