Prince William made awkward admission to brother Harry about Meghan Markle when he told him they're dating
Prince William had an expected reaction when his brother Harry revealed his relationship with Meghan Markle.
In his 2023 memoir, Spare, the 42-year-old Duke of Sussex recalled the moment he told William and Princess Kate about his new girlfriend, only to find out they were already huge fans of the legal drama, Suits, in which Markle starred.
The 45-year-old played paralegal Rachel Zane in the hit series, which she filmed until 2017, a year after she began dating Harry.
Prince William's awkward admission to Harry's relationship with Meghan
Recalling the moment he shared the news with William and Kate, Harry wrote: "Their mouths fell open. They turned to each other. Then Willy turned to me and said: 'F**k off?'"
He was initially confused by his brother's response, but he soon realized that the couple was already familiar with Markle's work.
"I was baffled, until Willy and Kate explained that they were regular - nay, religious - viewers of 'Suits,'" he continued. "'Great,' I thought, laughing. I've been worrying about the wrong thing."
"All this time I'd thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph," he added.
Elsewhere in the book, Harry revealed that he Googled some of Markle's scenes and joked that he wanted to "burn the images from his brain".
"I'd witnessed her and a castmate mauling each other in some sort of office or conference room. I didn't need to see such things live," he said.
Harry and Meghan return to the UK six years after their royal exit
The royals tied the knot in 2018 and went on to welcome two children: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
In January 2020, the couple announced that they were stepping down as working royals and were relocating to Markle's native Southern California.
However, six years later, Harry and Markle made the unexpected decision to move back to the UK with their children.
King Charles was informed of the move and revealed that there were no plans for the couple to resume their roles as working Royals
On Thursday (October 15), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first joint public appearance since their move, visiting Nottingham, England, a city that holds special meaning in their relationship.
It was in Nottingham that Markle made her first official royal outing alongside Harry on December 1, 2017, just four days after the couple announced their engagement.
The visit marked a new chapter for the pair's move to the UK.
One source told PEOPLE they are shifting their focus back to their work. "After they first arrived in England, their focus was on establishing a routine and getting the kids settled into school," they said. "Now, they’re both excited to focus more on their work and the projects that matter to them."
With Archie and Lilibet settling into their new lives, Harry and Markle are reportedly looking forward to dedicating more time to their charitable initiatives while continuing to prioritize family life.
"During the week, while the kids are in school, they’re working," the source shared. "They’re enjoying family weekends together."
