Prison nurse pleads guilty to having ‘inappropriate’ relationship with convicted killer
A prison nurse has plead guilty to having an 'inappropriate' relationship with a convicted killer at the prison where she worked.
Stephanie Adair admitted to having a sexual relationship with an inmate while working at Wandsworth prison in South West London.
Adair's deception was exposed when her address was listed on his court documents. The relationship lasted over a year - from September 2023 to November 2024 - before being uncovered.
But this is not the first scandal to his Wandsworth prison, the same site where a prison officer was jailed after filming a romp with an inmate there.
Prison nurse's relationship with killer who murdered teenager uncovered
Adair got herself involved with 28-year-old convicted killer Jahki Crosdale while working as a nurse at HMP Wandsworth.
Crosdale had initially been jailed in 2015 for stabbing a trainee plumber to death.
His victim, 19-year-old Charlie Burns, was killed because he was £150 in debt over cannabis.
The affair between Adair and Crosdale lasted from September 2023 to November 2024. Adair's deception was exposed when Crosdale logged her address on his court documents.
Adair has admitted misconduct in public office by engaging in an inappropriate relationship with Crosdale. The charge states that she maintained their relationship.
For his part, Crosdale also admitted unauthorised transmissions of images or sound from inside two prisons (HMP Wandsworth and HMP Lowdham Grange) between February and October 2024.
Adair must now cooperate with the preparation of a pre-sentence report before her sentencing, which is due to take place on February 9 2027.
Not the first scandal to hit jail after prison officer romped with inmate
However, this is not the first scandal to rock HMP Wandsworth - especially where inappropriate relationships between its staff and inmates is concerned.
Last year, prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu was caught romping with an inmate, Linton Weirich, after an X-rated video of an encounter between the two went viral.
De Sousa Abreu, who also moonlighted as an OnlyFans creator, was jailed for 15 months in January after she also plead guilty to misconduct in a public office.
As for Adair, following the investigation into her illicit relationship with Crosdale, she was temporarily banned from working in prisons by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
However, she is still listed as a practise nurse at the Trevelyan House GP surgery in Tooting, south-west London.
Her sentencing is set to take place next year, on February 9 2027.
