A 13-year-old boy was reportedly duct-taped to his seat on an American Airlines flight from Maui to Los Angeles after trying to kick out a window on the plane.
Footage of the alleged incident was obtained by CBSN Los Angeles and appears to show a young boy being taped to his seat.
In the video, a member of the cabin crew approaches the youngster with duct tape as a couple of passengers try their best to restrain the teen.
Check out the footage below:The flight took off on Tuesday, August 10, at 12:30PM local time and was set to land in Los Angeles some five hours later. However, it was instead diverted to Honolulu in Hawaii.
Witnesses told the news outlet that the teenager started becoming violent toward his mother around an hour into the flight - before taking his anger out on a plane window, with witnesses saying he "attempted to kick out the window next to his seat", CBSN Los Angeles reports.
Following the struggle, the unnamed adolescent was taken into custody in Honolulu. No one was injured during the incident.
"Customers were re-accommodated on other flights or provided hotel accommodations," an American Airlines representative said, per The New York Post. "Safety and security is our top priority, and we apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this caused."
The rep explained that the flight landed in Honolulu at 3:47PM local time, with the plane having been diverted "due to an incident with a passenger on board."
This comes after similar stories emerged recently of unruly passengers being duct-taped to their seats in order to restrain them.
Last month, a woman was reportedly duct-taped to her seat on an American Airlines flight after she allegedly tried to open the front door of the plane while it was in the air. The unnamed woman could be heard screaming in footage obtained of the incident.
Earlier this month, it was reported that a male passenger was duct-taped to his seat on a Frontier Airlines flight after allegedly groping female flight attendants and punching a male cabin crew member.
The man, believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, was later arrested and charged with three counts of battery.
