Department of Justice 'illegally withheld' Epstein files with claims Donald Trump sexually abused a minor
The Department of Justice has been accused of covering up Epstein files, including allegations that President Donald Trump sexually abused a minor.
The serious allegations, brought by House Democrat Oversight Committee member Robert Garcia, claim that the actions are in breach of both the Oversight Committee’s subpoena and the Epstein Transparency Act.
The Epstein files continue to throw up controversy
The files pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein contain some serious - and often unverified - allegations against a number of powerful people from around the world.
As well as featuring the names of prominent celebrities and politicians, the files - all of which have now been released according to Pam Bondi - contain thousands of references to President Donald Trump.
Now, House Democrats claim it has been ‘exposed’ that the DoJ withheld and removed some files, specifically relating to an accusation that Donald Trump sexually abused a minor.
Addressing those allegations, Rep. Robert Garcia said: “For the last few weeks, Oversight Democrats have been investigating the FBI’s handling of allegations from 2019 of sexual assault on a minor made against President Donald Trump by a survivor.
“Yesterday, I reviewed unredacted evidence logs at the Department of Justice.
“Oversight Democrats can confirm that the DOJ appears to have illegally withheld FBI interviews with this survivor who accused President Trump of heinous crimes.
“Oversight Democrats will open a parallel investigation into this.
“Under the Oversight Committee’s subpoena and the Epstein Files Transparency Act, these records must immediately be shared with Congress and the American public.
“Covering up direct evidence of a potential assault by the President of the United States is the most serious possible crime in this White House cover up.”
According to research from NPR, the FBI discussed the allegations against Trump internally in July and August 2025, and most claims sent to the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center were unverifiable or not credible.
In one allegation, forwarded to the FBI Washington Field Office, a woman claimed Trump was introduced to her by Epstein in the early 1980s when she was around 13-years-old.
She alleged that Trump ‘forced her head down to his exposed penis, which she subsequently bit. In response, Trump punched her in the head and kicked her out.’
FBI agents allegedly interviewed the woman four times, but only one of those interviews - from July 2019 - appears in the public files and makes no mention of Trump.
Why were some of the names in the Epstein Files redacted?
Outside of these allegations, there have been many questions raised about some of the names that were redacted from the files pertaining to the disgraced pedophile financier.
Some have since been revealed, but many remain shrouded in secret and small black rectangles.
This latest development appears at odds with claims made by Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, both of whom said that there were no redactions that were not necessary.
A letter was sent to Congress earlier this month that stated that no names in the records were withheld or covered up ‘on the basis of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity, including to any government official, public figure, or foreign dignitary.’
Since the files were released, both Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and UK politician Peter Mandelson have been arrested.
The White House also addressed the allegations, stating: "Just as President Trump has said, he's been totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein,
"And by releasing thousands of pages of documents, cooperating with the House Oversight Committee's subpoena request, signing the Epstein Files Transparency Act, and calling for more investigations into Epstein's Democrat friends, President Trump has done more for Epstein's victims than anyone before him.
“Meanwhile, Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries and Stacey Plaskett have yet to explain why they were soliciting money and meetings from Epstein after he was a convicted sex offender.”
