Doctor Fauci has revealed that he and his family have received "serious threats" as he works to tackle the ongoing pandemic, and he has now been assigned security.
Fauci, who is a member of the White House coronavirus task force, said that the threats have been numerous, and even came from the far-right group Q-Anon.
In the video below, Dr. Fauci says coronavirus will never be eradicated:

Dr. Fauci made the revelations on an episode of The Axe Files podcast, saying that the threats he has received in 2020 have been worse than those he was subject to while tackling the HIV and AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 1990s.
"It's not good. I don’t see how society does that. It's tough," he said. "Serious threats against me, against my family, my daughters, my wife - I mean, really? Is this the United States of America?"
Fauci said the criticism is "really a magnitude different now, because of the anger."
While Dr. Fauci has been forced to take on security to keep his family safe, others have said that he's a hero for the work he is doing during the pandemic.
"As much as people inappropriately, I think, make me somewhat of a hero - and I'm not a hero, I'm just doing my job - there are people who get really angry at thinking I'm interfering with their life because I'm pushing a public-health agenda," he said.
There is now a divide between the doctor and the White House after the White House claimed that Dr. Fauci had tried to undermine the president.
This is because his advice was different from Trump's, with Dr. Fauci advising people to wear facemasks when the president was against it - although the president's stance on the issue has changed in recent weeks.
"I suppose what this reflects is the divisiveness of our society at a political level. I mean, this is a public-health issue, the fundamental principles of public health, and I don't see how people can have animosity to that," Dr Fauci added.
While acknowledging the negative effects of lockdown, Dr. Fauci said that's "why we're all trying to open up America again in a way that's safe, so we can do it in a measured fashion." But he added that "the hostility to public health issues is difficult not only to understand, but difficult to process."
