Five-word warning husband gave wife as she filmed him shooting her after learning of affair
A chilling warning a man gave his wife before fatally shooting her was caught on camera and shown in court.
In 2021, Patricia 'Rici' Birmingham captured her final moments on camera before she was killed by her husband, Carey Birmingham, in the driveway of their home in Texas.
Patricia was shot at point blank range multiple times in what Carey claimed was a crime of passion after finding out she had been unfaithful.
The shocking footage was shown in front of an all-female jury at Carey's trial in 2024, when the then 60-year-old was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crime.
In the chilling clip, which was shared on YouTube by the Law & Crime Network, Patricia can be heard asking: "Do you really want this on video?", as Carey points a gun in her direction.
"I'll pull it. I'm mad enough to just pull it," Carey says in response.
As he steps closer to her and cocks the gun, Carey says: "Alright, goodbye Rici," before adding: "You're going to meet Jesus."
Carey then shot and killed Patricia outside their home in Spring, firing his gun three times before saying: "I hope it was worth it."
The jury sentenced Carey to 10 years in prison with the eligibility of parole after five years.
The shooting occurred while their daughter, Olivia, was at school, and she bravely opened up to ABC7 about the tragic loss of her mother.
She heartbreakingly said: "I lost both my parents that day. My dad died that day, too, because the person who did that to my mom and my father aren't the same person."
Carey and Patricia had argued for around 30 minutes before the fatal shooting, with audio obtained by ABC13 showing that Carey said: "I am f**king done," before Patricia responded: "I am f**king done too."
Carey's defense attorney, Anthony Osso, said they pleaded guilty, claiming that Carey had acted in the heat of the moment after learning of Patricia's alleged affair.
Osso explained: "We never tried to justify the actions of our client, but the defense wasn't about justification. It was about why he did what he did."
Olivia questioned that account, adding: "I don't know, sudden passion? You have to have something. You have to have made that decision within you for a while; I feel like to do something, to do that to someone you really love."
Olivia said she spoke with her father in court, summarizing her statement to ABC13 as having said: "No matter what was said in this trial, you know what type of woman she was, and you know what you did and how he took away my favorite person in this world."
She also testified that she'd never witnessed her father physically harming her mother, but wanted to raise awareness of other forms of abuse she experienced, including financial and emotional.
Olivia added that while she still loves her father, she is negun crimver able to forgive him for killing her mother.
