Fox News co-host Trump attacked in text read out live on air issues off air response
Following President Donald Trump's bizarre attack on a Fox News host, sent to her colleague via text while the pair were hosting the channel's midterm election broadcast, Jessica Tarlov has responded on social media.
As news of the staggering defeat of his party in the midterms trickled in, the President took to Truth Social in true Trump fashion to moan about one of the country's biggest news channels and insult its anchors.
He penned: "The Fox News poll, always the worst, is so insulting with the questions they ask.
"Every question is a hit job, and every answer is [expletive]. This has been going on for years."
Trump targeted individual news anchors, blaming them for his defeat
Turning to the individuals informing the nation of the results, the President hit out at Fox News’ The Five, singling out resident liberal co-host Jessica Tarlov.
He wrote: "Watching the Pre-Election Results on FoxNews, but I can't stand Jessica Tarlov's voice — DUMB AS A ROCK, but it's the voice that gets me. Have to go somewhere else until that LOSER is off the air — I'll be back later!"
Fox News' exit polling revealed that 87 percent of participants had serious concerns over the substantial hike in gas prices, with 62 percent blaming Trump's policies directly.
The stark surveys also showed that his personal popularity rating stood at a dismal 38 percent, a figure that CBS News and CNN also reported.
To make matters worse, the President personally texted Tarlov's co-host Greg Gutfeld, prompting the anchor to read Trump's tantrum aloud on air.
The message reportedly said: "Greg, tell Tarlov - who is the WORST - gas prices are lower than they were for Biden and Obama, and they allowed Iran to have the nuclear bomb.
"Furthermore, I inherited the worst prices and inflation in history from Sleepy Joe. Prices are heading down FAST!
"Just like all other prices, so is inflation, which is 1.7 percent. And there will be no 'nuclear bomb'."
Tarlov took to her own social media to hit back at the President
It did not take long for Tarlov to respond to the scathing comments made by the President on her own social media accounts.
Responding to the blasting in a much more professional manner, Tarlov wrote: "I realize my comments highlighting the highest gas prices on any Election Day aggravated the president, but reality is a tricky thing, and he should get better at dealing with it."
Adding fuel to the fire and dismissing the usual news anchor's requirement to remain somewhat politically impartial, Tarlov later shared a picture of a television screen emblazoned with "Democrats gain Senate control," captioned: "Hello gorgeous".
Just an hour before, as more and more states were turning blue, she quipped: "Libbing out so hard i can’tttttt handle this!!!"
While Trump has not yet responded directly to Tarlov's not-so-subtle digs on social media, he has made his dislike for the broadcaster and election results very clear on his own public channels.
