Trump angrily texts Fox News host live on air in extraordinary midterm election outburst
As the final results of the midterm elections rolled in and a landslide Democratic victory became clear, President Donald Trump launched a tirade against the country's biggest news network and even hit out at its presenters during a live broadcast.
When the first polls began closing, Trump erupted over Fox News' exit poll numbers, calling the station "the worst". Although he appeared on the channel earlier in the fateful day to rally any supporters he had left, hours later he took to Truth Social to insult the broadcast giant after their "Voter Poll" began revealing the brutal truth about the rest of his tenure.
Fox News' exit polling revealed that 87 percent of participants had serious concerns over the substantial hike in gas prices, with 62 percent blaming Trump's policies directly.
The stark surveys also showed that his personal popularity rating stood at a dismal 38 percent, a figure that CBS News and CNN also reported.
Trump took to social media to hit out against the news channel
Appalled by the damaging numbers, Trump launched a bitter tirade against the channel on social media. He penned: "The Fox News poll, always the worst, is so insulting with the questions they ask. Every question is a hit job, and every answer is [expletive]. This has been going on for years."
Turning to the individuals informing the nation of the results, the President hit out at Fox News’ The Five, singling out resident liberal co-host Jessica Tarlov. He wrote: "Watching the Pre-Election Results on FoxNews, but I can't stand Jessica Tarlov's voice — DUMB AS A ROCK, but it's the voice that gets me. Have to go somewhere else until that LOSER is off the air — I'll be back later!"
Digging himself a hole that it could be hard to climb back out of once the final results are in, the President personally texted Tarlov's co-host Greg Gutfeld, prompting the anchor to read Trump's tantrum aloud on air.
The message reportedly said: "Greg, tell Tarlov - who is the WORST - gas prices are lower than they were for Biden and Obama and they allowed Iran to have the nuclear bomb.
"Furthermore, I inherited the worst prices and inflation in history from Sleepy Joe. Prices are heading down FAST!
"Just like all other prices and so is inflation which is 1.7 percent. And there will be no 'nuclear bomb'."
The targeted news anchor responded to Trump's harsh criticism
In a much more professional manner, Tarlov responded to the blasting on social media, writing: "I realize my comments highlighting the highest gas prices on any Election Day aggravated the president, but reality is a tricky thing and he should get better at dealing with it."
Taking the targeted attack further, Trump claimed that Fox News’ viewing figures had plummeted by 27 percent because the network spends "too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats!"
Moments after making bold accusations that the network's parent company, Fox Corporation, actively bankrolls top Democrats, including Hakeem Jeffries, Jamie Raskin, Ted Lieu, and Pete Aguilar, Trump declared: "It’s them, not me — My numbers are better than they have ever been."
Without providing evidence to support his accusations, Trump added: "No wonder Fox News ratings are collapsing... They’re way down, not because of me, but because they are AGAINST me!"
