A mother who has been accused of engaging in a sex act with her dog has received new backing from her friends and social media users, arguing that the circumstances surrounding her arrest may be more complicated than they first appeared.
Malia Nummerdor, 38, was arrested after her husband allegedly discovered footage from a hidden camera that appeared to show her engaging in a sexual act with the family dog.
The cameras had reportedly been installed while he investigated money allegedly disappearing from a household coin jar.
While the shocking allegations quickly spread online, prompting widespread criticism, a group of friends, former classmates and supporters have questioned the version of events being circulated, pointing to Nummerdor’s personal history and a reportedly tumultuous marriage that was ending.
One former classmate defended her in a social media post, writing: “I went to school with her, and she never rubbed me as weirdo.”
The person continued: “She is a very pretty. I don't think she would have trouble finding a human being to be intimate with. Of course, that alone doesn't prove anything, but I think it's important to remember that the person being portrayed online is someone who has people who knew her before these allegations.”
Support for the mother of two has grown online, with messages using the hashtag #supportmalia and urging people not to make assumptions before the case is resolved.
One supporter wrote: “Those of you that know her know this is BS. I am not local but please let me know how i can help.”
Other commenters referred to alleged problems in Nummerdor’s marriage, although those claims have not been independently verified.
One post said: “I feel there is much more to the story, especially after she just posted about him cheating, and then the girl comes back at her and the post is gone and now this!”
The commenter added: “Seems fishy all around, why ruin her life, her kids and everyone around her?! Awful!”
Another former friend suggested that additional information could emerge during the legal proceedings.
They wrote: “Well unfortunately, there are a lot more things that are about to unfold and come out that we don't know of yet.”
The person continued: “I don't think I can handle much more than this. She was a good friend of mine a while back. All I'm doing is praying for her, the kids, and the dog. Nothing else we can do right now.”
The case began with an investigation by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. According to authorities, Nummerdor’s husband had placed hidden cameras around the home while trying to identify whoever was taking money from a coin jar.
Police say he later reviewed footage from a bedroom camera and claimed it showed Nummerdor engaging in sexual activity with the family dog, reportedly named Ranger.
During an interview with investigators, Nummerdor acknowledged that the video existed but denied behaving sexually. She reportedly told officers she was “just petting the dog.”
The sheriff said: “There are only a few times in my career that I have been at a loss for words. This is one of those times. I simply cannot comprehend this behavior.”
He added: “And then to smile in the mugshot? I don’t know what there is to smile about when you’ve been arrested for something as disgusting as this.”
One lengthy online exchange offered an unverified theory about when the alleged recordings were made and whether Nummerdor’s former husband should face consequences for allegedly keeping them.
One commenter claimed: “Yes, I was told the same that the videos took place back in 2024.”
They continued: “So I honestly think the ex-husband she's getting divorced from now, should in some way get charged with something. Mainly for holding the videos over her head for the past 2 years or charge him with having these videos in his possession for the last 2 years.”
The commenter added: “Some way, somehow....he should definitely be charged with something EVEN if he never engaged in the actual activity, he still had these videos for 2 damn years.”
However, another person disputed that account, writing that they had been told the recordings were made more recently.
They said: “I've recently been told that the videos were not from 2024 and the year 2024 came from Malia as she was being investigated, but she was so drunk and on some sort of drugs, couldn't even tell the detectives the year she was in now.”
The post claimed that the first alleged incident occurred “at the end of 2025”, with another reportedly taking place in February 2026. The commenter speculated that the delay before the arrest may have been linked to the police investigation.
They concluded: “I don't think any one of us will ever know the actual truth except Malia, the ex-husband, and God.”
The allegations against Malia remain disputed, with the investigation into the alleged incident ongoing as authorities try to establish how what is alleged unfolded.
