The Laundrie's family lawyer has again responded to rumors that Brian's parents planted evidence in the Carlton Reserve as investigators searched for the fugitive.

During a NewsNation interview on Thursday, attorney Steven Bertolino vehemently defended his longtime clients.

Speaking just 30 minutes after the FBI confirmed that human remains found in a park near the family's North Port, Florida home, belonged to 23-year-old Brian, the lawyer said:  "I’m upset, I’m angry, and for the last four hours I’ve been dealing with — I just have to call it nonsense."

He added: "[Chris and Roberta Laundrie] extremely upset, and for some unknown reason, there are still people outside of their home, yelling and screaming and causing a ruckus, which any parent grieving the loss of a child should not have to deal with."

Brian headed to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on September 13 and his parents told authorities he was missing on September 17.

After a weeks-long search at the Myakkahatchee and the nearby Carlton Reserve, police initially failed to find Brian, who was a person of interest in the homicide of his fiancée, Gabby Petito.

On Wednesday, Brian's parents helped investigators in the search as they accompanied them to the Myakkahatchee.

Soon after the search began that morning, some of Brian's personal items were found near human remains, which the FBI confirmed belonged to the 23-year-old through dental records.

Chris and Roberta discovered a white bag and another of their son's belongings and police found a notebook, backpack, and Brian's skeletal remains.

Bertolino referred to the rumor that the Laundries planted Brian's remains and belongings in the park as "bull****" in the interview.

He said: "If you've got the FBI, the local PD, an independent news reporter, all there at the same time seeing the same thing, you've got quote-unquote surveillance of the Laundries 24/7 by protesters and members of the press, when did you think these items were planted?"

"Did you really think the Laundries had skeletal remains of their son in a plastic bag and brought them to the preserve? Do you realize how ludicrous that is, how aggravating, how maddening it is to even hear those things?"
