A man who was photographed sitting in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office with his foot on her desk during the Capitol riots has been arrested, it is widely reported.
Per CNBC, Richard Barnett was apprehended in Arkansas and charged with "entering and remaining on restricted grounds, violent entry, and theft of public property".
Photographs of Barnett sat in Speaker Pelosi's office with his foot up on her desk quickly went viral as a demonstration of the chaos that was unfolding inside the Capitol on Wednesday.
Barnett, 60, is said to have bragged to reporters about how he had broken into Pelosi's office.
“I wrote her a nasty note, put my feet up on her desk,” he said, per the New York Times. "When the police came in with pepper spray, I said, ‘I paid for this, it’s mine,’ and I left.”
According to the Times, Barnett also insisted that he had merely been knocking on the door when he was pushed through by a crowd of people. However, he seemed to know that this was a story not many would believe. “I’ll probably be telling them this is what happened all the way to the D.C. jail,” he said.
Police identified Mr Barnett after comparing images published by the media to a photograph of the 60-year-old obtained via law enforcement databases, according to an affidavit signed by Special Agent James Soltes of the U.S. Capitol Police.
It has previously been reported that a growing number of the Capitol rioters have been fired from their jobs after being identified online.
One man was fired from his job at a Maryland-based for participating after he was spotted wearing his employee ID badge in the midst of the violence.
Navistar Direct Marketing, the employer of the man in question claimed in a press statement that it had been made aware of the photos and had terminated his contract.
A spokesperson for the organization wrote:
"Navistar Direct Marketing was made aware that a man wearing a Navistar company badge was seen inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, during the security breach. After a review of the photographic evidence, the employee in question has been terminated for cause.
"While we support all employee’s right to peaceful, lawful exercise of free speech, any employee demonstrating dangerous conduct that endangers the health and safety of others will no longer have an employment opportunity with Navistar Direct Marketing."

A judge has ordered the "entitled" man who was photographed with his foot on Nancy Pelosi's desk to be kept in jail.
Per Buzzfeed News, Richard Barnett of Arkansas was being held in jail following the January 6 insurrection as he waited for his case going forward.
"His entitled behavior ... shows a total disregard for the law and for officials' directives," US District Chief Judge Beryl Howell said on Thursday (January 28). "A total disregard for the US Constitution."
A federal magistrate judge in Arkansas denied prosecutors' requests on January 15 to keep Barnett in custody and instead ordered that he be kept under house arrest.
Prosecutors had appealed to Howell on January 15 after their request to keep Barnett in custody pending trial was denied by a federal magistrate judge in Arkansas.
House arrest was ordered instead.
Howell said that the crimes Barnett was charged with on Thursday were "too benign" to capture the scale of what he and others did during the January 6 insurrection.
Barnett is currently facing one felony count of bringing a dangerous weapon into the Capitol (a walking stick shaped stun device) as well as two misdemeanor counts for violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds and theft of government property.
The theft was noted after he was photographed outside the building holding an envelope that he claimed to have taken from Pelosi's office.
In the video below, Tucker Carlson mocks AOC for saying her life was in danger during the Capitol riot:"What happened on that day is criminal activity that is destined to go down in the history books of this country," Howell said. "This was not a peaceful protest. Hundreds of people came to Washington, DC, to disrupt the transition of power and to thwart Congress, a branch of the federal government, in carrying out its duties, in fulfilling its constitutional task of officially certifying the votes of the Electoral College."
Howell explained that Washington residents are still living with the "consequences" of the Capitol riots, citing the deployment of the National Guard prior to President Biden's inauguration.
She said that the evidence against Barnett was "overwhelming," and described how he "strutted" into Pelosi's office and "felt so entitled he put his feet on the desk" and took her mail.
"Brazen, entitled, dangerous," the judge said of Barnett.

A man who was depicted carrying off Nancy Pelosi's lectern in an image that subsequently went viral on social media has been arrested, ABC News reports.
Florida authorities said that they had arrested 36-year-old Adam Johnson of Parrish, Florida and that he is now being held at Pinellas County Jail pending charges.
Johnson is believed to be the man who appears in a viral photograph taken during Wednesday's raid of the Capitol, where he is seen grinning and waving at the camera while holding the lectern in his right arm, per investigators.
Johnson was clean shaven in his mugshot, whereas in the image in question he sported a beard and was wearing a wool hat with "Trump" emblazoned on it.
The status of the lectern was not immediately clear.

A woman accused of stealing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's laptop during the US Capitol riot earlier this month was arrested in Pennsylvania on Monday, (January 18), according to a Justice Department official, the Los Angeles Times reports.
As per the publication, the former romantic partner of Riley June Williams, 22, alleges that she stole a laptop from Pelosi's office on January 6.
The date of Williams' first appearance in court has yet to be revealed.
The FBI, which had begun a search for Williams, clarified in an arrest warrant on Sunday that the 22-year-old has been charged with illegal entry into the Capitol and with disorderly conduct. However, she had not been charged with theft.
Williams' mother, who had lived with her in Harrisburg Pennsylvania, told local law enforcement that her daughter left with a bag before she was arrested, explaining that she would be away for a few weeks.
The alleged insurrectionist had also changed her phone number and deleted several social media accounts, the FBI said.
FBI officials have said that an individual who claims to be Williams' former partner said that her friends had shown him footage of her stealing a laptop computer or hard drive from the House Speaker's office.
The individual stated that Williams had been planning to send it to a friend in Russia who would then sell it on to the country's foreign intelligence service.
However, the plan allegedly fell through and Williams either still has the device in her possession or destroyed it. The FBI says the case is still under investigation.
Pelosi's deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, confirmed on January 8 that a computer had been removed from a conference room but maintained that "it was a laptop that was only used for presentations."
Williams' mother told ITV reporters that her daughter had suddenly taken a keen interest in President Trump's politics and "far-right message boards."
Williams' father, who lives in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, explained to local law enforcement that he and his daughter traveled to Washington on the day of the riot but hadn't stayed together, and met up later to return home, the FBI said.

A West Virginia Republican state lawmaker who filmed himself storming the US Capitol during the violent riots earlier this week is facing criminal charges, it has been announced.
Per CNN, Derrick Evans, who is a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, has been charged with entering a restricted area and entering the US Capitol in a criminal complaint.
According to CBS News, Evans - who is newly elected - is facing bi-partisan calls to resign. However, his lawyer told a CBS affiliate that he would not be stepping down and had "committed no criminal act that day."
The video, posted by Evans to social media on Wednesday, reportedly depicted him yelling, "We're here. We're here. Derrick Evans is in the Capitol."
In a criminal complaint cited by CBS, an FBI agent noted that he identified Evans by comparing the voice of the person in the live-streamed video to the lawmaker's voice in a campaign video. The agent added, "Evans identifies himself by first and last name in the video recording the offense."
Evans' lawyer later released a statement cited by CNN, in which he states, "it wasn't apparent to Mr. Evans that he wasn't allowed to follow the crowd into this public area of the Capitol, inside which members of the public were already located."
Meanwhile, a man who was photographed sitting in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office with his foot on her desk during the Capitol riots has been arrested, it is widely reported.

Per CNN, acting US Attorney Michael Sherwin said of the scenes in the Capitol:
"The lawless destruction of the U.S. Capitol building was an attack against one of our Nation's greatest institutions.
"My Office, along with our law enforcement partners at all levels, have been expeditiously working and leveraging every resource to identify, arrest, and begin prosecuting these individuals who took part in the brazen criminal acts at the U.S. Capitol."

A man pictured carrying the Confederate flag in a number of images of the Capitol riots has been identified and arrested by investigators, it's reported.
On Wednesday, January 6, a mob of pro-Trump protestors interrupted the ceremonial counting of the Electoral College votes affirming Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 US Presidential Election.
The violent riots ultimately left a total of five people dead and forced politicians and journalists to flee Congress after the mob clashed with riot police.
Per The New York Times, the flag-bearer in question has been identified as Kevin Seefried, who was arrested by the FBI along with his son Hunter on Thursday, January 15.
The Bureau, which had circulated images of Kevin in a bid to catch him, was able to positively ID both Seefrieds after Hunter apparently bragged to others about his part in the civil disturbance.
Seefried told Federal agents that he'd brought the flag with him to Washington from his home in Delaware.
He and Hunter have now been charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
A number of other participants in the incident have also been identified, and have since been arrested or have lost their jobs as a result.
For instance, 36-year-old Adam Johnson, who was seen in pictures picking up and carrying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lectern, was also arrested and released on a $25,000 bond.
Johnson, who hails from Parrish, Florida, was charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and with the theft of government property. He was released from jail on Monday and is due back in court on January 19.
Jacob Chansley, the horned Capitol protestor "QAnon Shaman" who was also featured in a number of pictures taken at the scene, has also been arrested and charged after turning himself into the FBI.
According to a statement from the federal attorney for Washington, D.C.:
"Jacob Anthony Chansley, a.k.a. Jake Angeli, of Arizona, was charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
"Chansley was taken into custody today. It is alleged that Chansley was identified as the man seen in media coverage who entered the Capitol building dressed in horns, a bearskin headdress, red, white and blue face paint, shirtless, and tan pants.
"This individual carried a spear, approximately 6 feet in length, with an American flag tied just below the blade."
Texas attorney Paul Davis was fired from his job at Goosehead Insurance after he was spotted in pictures taken inside the Capitol Building on January 6.
Soon thereafter, a Twitter account belonging to the company tweeted on Thursday, January 7: "Paul Davis, Associate General Counsel, is no longer employed by Goosehead."
Former Pennsylvania state representative Rick Saccone resigned his position of adjunct professor at Saint Vincent College, after posting several now-deleted pictures of himself attending the protest on Facebook.
Speaking to West Pennsylvanian news outlet The Tribune-Review, Saccone stated: "I've been there 21 years. I didn't want all this terrible media kerfuffle to tarnish the school. I decided it would be better if I just resigned."
Michael Hustava, Saint Vincent's Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, told CNN:
"As a result of that investigation, Dr. Saccone has submitted and we have accepted his letter of resignation, effective immediately. He will no longer be associated with Saint Vincent College in any capacity."
Per Reuters, Chicago realtor Libby Andrews was fired by @properties and removed from the real estate agency's website, despite her insistence that she never entered the Capitol Building.
Reuters further reports that a Twitter thread started by a user going by the handle @Gagladla has also started naming-and-shaming those involved in the riot.
Another man has been fired from his job at a Maryland-based for participating after he was spotted wearing his employee ID badge in the midst of the violence.
Navistar Direct Marketing, the employer of the man in question claimed in a press statement that it had been made aware of the photos and had terminated his contract.
A spokesperson for the organization wrote: "Navistar Direct Marketing was made aware that a man wearing a Navistar company badge was seen inside the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, during the security breach.
