Marjorie Taylor Greene’s makes shocking 7-word statement about Trump as she announces surprise resignation from Congress

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has revealed she will step down from representing Georgia’s 14th congressional district at the end of her current term, announcing a planned resignation effective January 5, 2026.

The surprise declaration came in a lengthy video posted to her X account on Friday, November 21.

In the video, Greene blasted what she described as constant political obstruction and partisanship in Washington.

According to the congresswoman, entrenched gridlock has prevented her from achieving key legislative goals and left her increasingly disillusioned with her role in Congress.

Claims of Being “Unfairly” Treated by Her Own Party

Greene also accused members of the Republican Party of treating her “unfairly” and “wrongly,” saying she no longer wishes to endure internal attacks or be placed in the position of defending Donald Trump – the very man she claims “tried to destroy” her politically.

“I have too much self-respect and dignity,” Greene said in a shocking seven-word statement.

“I love my family way too much and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for.”

Greene added she refused to be a “battered wife” within the GOP, expected to defend Trump even after he “dumped tens of millions of dollars” into efforts against her.

She did not explain why she believes Trump may face impeachment again.

In her announcement, Greene criticised fellow Republicans for their handling of what she called the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

She praised her own conservative voting record on gun rights, abortion, border security, and opposition to what she labelled “COVID tyrannical insanity.”

Resignation Follows Trump’s Public Withdrawal of Support

Greene’s decision comes exactly one week after Donald Trump publicly rescinded his endorsement, referring to the congresswoman as a “ranting lunatic.”

The split has been brewing for months. In June, Greene broke with the GOP to oppose AI provisions in Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” later admitting she hadn’t actually read it.

She also spoke out against Trump’s decision to bomb three Iranian nuclear sites.

“I’m sick of funding foreign aid and foreign countries and foreign everything,” she wrote on X.

“I want to fund American interests and issues.”

Greene Highlighted Her Push for Epstein File Release

In recent months, Greene has repeatedly demanded the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein – a move Trump had previously opposed.

On November 19, Trump said he signed legislation ordering the files’ release, though no timeline for publication has been provided.
