Cindy Crawford's son Presley Gerber's final Instagram post before his death at 27
Presley Gerber gave a harrowing insight into his battle with addiction in one of his final social media posts, sharing an emotional message about undergoing psychedelic treatment months before his death at the age of 27.
The model, son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber and brother of Kaia Gerber, died at a rehabilitation facility on Sunday, September 20, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner obtained by People.
A representative for his family confirmed the news, saying: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Gerber's haunting final social media post before death
Months before his death, Presley had spoken publicly about an ibogaine treatment he underwent earlier this year, while trying to address his struggles with addiction, having initially taken to social media to discuss an “ibogaine flood dose” he was about to undergo.
While it remains a controversial method, due to research into its potential use in treating addiction and other conditions currently ongoing, it is legal in some countries.
Reflecting on the experience, Presley wrote: “Quiet moment before everything changed.
“I was absolutely terrified, and I knew I would be again if I ever had to face something like this.”
He also described some of the thoughts he used to get himself through the treatment.
“Letting go of control didn’t come easy, but I trusted there was something bigger than me guiding it,” he wrote. “I knew why I was there. I faced what I had been running from, and somewhere in all of it, I started finding my way back to myself.
“We shall see.”
He also suggested he hoped the treatment would be a turning point, writing that he was “praying it’s the last time I have to come back.”
“Next time I’d like to choose do [it],” he added, before thanking the people who had helped him through the experience.
He described them as “the incredible caring kind and on their s*** team”.
“And I made some dope a** friends there,” Presley concluded.
The post prompted an outpouring of support from members of Presley's family, with his mother Cindy Crawford, now 60, responding with an emotional message of her own.
“You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!” she wrote.
His younger sister Kaia also shared her pride in her brother, commenting: “That’s my brother I am so damn proud.”
Presley had previously been open about his experiences with mental health difficulties and substance abuse during an appearance on the Studio 22 podcast in 2023, where he spoke about wanting to use his own experiences to help other people facing similar struggles.
“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” he admitted.
“[Mental health] is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it,” Presley continued.
“That’s really what I want to do: help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment.”
He also reflected on the mistakes he had made during his own experiences.
“I’ve seen a lot of stuff and I’ve learned a lot of things. What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for some other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.”
His sister had also discussed his issues with drugs
Presley's issues had also been discussed by his sister Kaia, who reflected on the impact his difficulties had on their family in a September 2026 interview with Vogue.
Kaia explained that watching her brother's struggles had influenced how she viewed her own role within the family.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she claimed.
“I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”
But Kaia also said she admired the way Presley had chosen to speak openly about what he was experiencing.
“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone.’ There’s only so much you can hide from the world,” she admitted.
“And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
His family has asked for privacy as they grieve his death.
