Minneapolis resident Renee Nicole Good, a 37‑year‑old mother of three, was found with three gunshot wounds.
Good was fatally shot during a confrontation with ICE officers in Minneapolis, with the shooter identified as Jonathon Ross.
The incident, now the center of a political storm, has divided public opinion and drawn intense scrutiny from both lawmakers and the public.
Good found with three gunshot wounds
Good had gunshot wounds to the chest, arm, and head after a federal immigration officer shot her the morning of January 7, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department’s incident report, cited by the Minnesota Star Tribune.
At 9:42AM, paramedics found Good unresponsive in her car with blood on her face and torso.
She was not breathing, and her pulse was “inconsistent” and “irregular,” according to the report obtained through a state Data Practices Act request.
There were two gunshot wounds on Good’s right chest, one on her left forearm and one “with protruding tissue on the left side of the patient’s head,” the report said. Blood was flowing out of her left ear.
Good was moved to a snowbank and then the sidewalk to gain “separation from an escalating scene involving law enforcement and bystanders,” the report continued. At that point, the 37‑year‑old was “still not breathing and pulseless.”
Lifesaving efforts continued at the scene, in an ambulance and at HCMC. CPR was discontinued at the hospital at 10:30AM.
A 911 caller told dispatchers “they shot her [because] she wouldn’t open her car door. Send an ambulance please, ambulance please.”
Forensic Expert Breaks Down Footage of Final Moments
A forensic expert known as Dr. G Explains has reviewed footage of Renee Good’s final moments, highlighting what he interprets as key behavior moments before she was fatally shot.
He points to a detail in her hands before the shooting, noting that she turned her steering wheel to the left, “preparing for action... preparing to leave.”
Her tires are pointing left in the footage, which Dr. G says supports this claim.
According to the forensic expert, her brake and reverse lights are on, meaning that she had a plan to exit the situation as soon as she could.
Dr. G believes that although adrenaline would have been flowing through her, she came across calm and composed, and her full intent was to leave the situation.
According to Dr. G, the scene escalated when Good’s wife attempted to get into the car at the same moment that an ICE agent is pulling on the driver's side door.
He explains that this confrontation put her in a “flight state,” which caused her to flee the scene as quickly as she could, ultimately ending in her clipping an ICE agent with her car and being fatally shot by him.
Scene Photos Show No Weapon, Only Ordinary Items
At a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Representative Eric Swalwell shared a chilling detail: images showing what was inside Renee Good’s glove compartment at the time of her death.
“She had a baby to go home to,” Swalwell told the room. “A six-year-old who is now orphaned, who lost his father two years ago.”
He described her glove compartment as one that “resembles the glove compartments of many parents across the country” — not a stash of weapons, but one filled with stuffed animals. “Not a terrorist,” he said, pushing back against claims used to justify the shooting.
“You want to root on, and cheer for her being shot in the face three times?” he asked, directly addressing supporters of the ICE agent.
