Stephen King sparks outrage with false claim about Donald Trump
Horror magnate, Stephen King, renowned for his fictitious worlds of thrills, spills, horrors, and kills has sparked controversy amid another work of fiction concerning current President Donald Trump.
The mastermind behind some of our most beloved horror stories has caused quite a stir online after he made unfounded claims about the divisive leader of the free world.
Taking to X, King posted: "Trump: has never had a child. Has been married 3 times. Ran several businesses into the ground. Never ran a home, couldn’t make a bed to save his a--.
"Calls people he works with dumb, losers, ect. Has never done sweat labor. Has never served on a local committee.”
Social media storm after Stephen King X post
Posted on Monday, King’s post unsurprisingly prompted a tirade of backlash, including from Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr, who retorted: "Well, this is news to me… unless he means birthed a child which would also hold true for every male ever. TDS is real and it’s scary.”
King’s remarks come as Trump, a father of five who is currently serving his second term in the Oval Office, prepares to address the nation on Tuesday night during the 2026 State of the Union, his annual update to Congress outlining his administration’s progress and priorities.
The responses, many of which were from Republican-supporting accounts, were quick to point out that Trump was a father to five children.
"Trump literally has 5 kids. What is this s***?" Libs of TikTok posted on X.
"Is there a 25th Amendment for taking people's phones away?" Conservative writer Bonchie wrote on X.
A longstanding feud with the Trump administration
The author, who boasts a stunning back-catalog of influential literature, has been a longstanding critic of the Trump administration.
The creator of works such as The Shining, Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile voiced his contempt for Trump back in August 2025 during an interview in The Guardian: “I would love to see him retired, let’s put it that way.
"The bad ending would be that he gets a third term and takes things over completely.
"It’s a horror story either way. Trump is a horror story, isn’t he?”
In one of his recent posts on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, King launched another attack on Trump: "Happy President's Day!
"I assume that includes the brainless bag of guts and waters currently inhabiting the defaced shambles of the Peoples' House."
In January, King accused the U.S. President of being "dumb", before thanking his followers for their attention.
