Newly released Department of Justice files have shed light on Jeffrey Epstein’s disturbing fixation on the daughter of his former girlfriend.
The documents detail Epstein’s personal relationship with Celina Dubin, the daughter of his longtime former partner Eva Dubin, a former Miss Sweden and 4th runner up Miss Universe in 1980, who is now married to billionaire investor Glenn Dubin.
Celina, now 30, went on to graduate from Harvard University and become a New York City doctor, but the files show the late financier remained involved in her life from childhood into adulthood.
According to a Business Insider report cited in the newly disclosed material, Epstein told friends in 2014 that Celina, who was 19-years-old at the time, was the only person he wanted to marry.
A family spokesperson described the remark as an “offhand comment,” adding that the Dubins were unaware of it.
“There is no justification for dragging Celina into a public controversy she had nothing to do with,” the spokesperson said.
A Relationship That Began In Childhood
The DOJ documents outline how Epstein referred to Celina as his “goddaughter” and had frequent contact with her.
In August 2010, two years after he was convicted of soliciting and procuring a minor for prostitution, Eva invited him to her Colorado home while her daughter was hosting friends.
“Come and visit next week. Celina will have 5 friends over,” she wrote to him on August 14, 2010. The friends included four boys and one girl, according to the family spokesperson, per The New York Post.
In 2012, Eva also invited her ex-boyfriend to attend a lacrosse game at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, where Celina, then a senior at Trinity High School, was playing.
“It was great fun, my first game,” Epstein wrote to Celina, per the new docs. “I wish you could have come to a game where I played offense, but I’m glad you enjoyed it!!!!” Celina wrote back in an online chat.
Epstein watched the game from the sidelines with Celina’s parents, the spokesperson said.
The files show that Celina, then a teenager, exchanged hundreds of messages with Epstein and referred to him as “Uncle F.”
“Hey unc! You’re in the city now right? What are you up to today,” the then-15-year-old girl messaged Epstein in 2010, one year after his release from prison.
Epstein later used the name “Uncle F” when donating to the Dubin Breast Cancer Center at Mount Sinai, according to emails.
Epstein's Alleged Influence
When Epstein traveled to Paris in 2011, he agreed to purchase clothing for Celina. “Anything!! You know what I like, I also need some cool but also flattering and somewhat sexy (ish) shirts that I can wear when I go out at night,” she wrote. “100%,” he replied.
That same year, Celina sought modeling advice. “Do u think I should do another photoshoot soon? Should I get in touch with Jean Luc or Faith Kates,” she wrote. “Whatever you want. Jean Luc better,” Epstein responded.
In 2012, Epstein emailed Jean-Luc Brunel, the modeling agent and associate who later died by suicide in a French prison in 2022 while awaiting trial for rape of a minor.
“Glad to seee [sic] you are doing well can we get celina a fashion shoot?” Epstein wrote. A family spokesperson said Celina never ended up having a photoshoot with Brunel.
Epstein also contacted Harvard Professor of Mathematics and Biology Martin Nowak in 2011.
“My goddaughter and most favorite person in the whole world is coming up to Harvard on sept 1-2,, [sic] please show her or help in any way you and she agree,” he wrote.
A Dubin family spokesperson rejected any suggestion of improper influence, stating: “The suggestion that she got into Harvard because of an email from Epstein to a math professor is gratuitous and offensive undermining of a young woman’s significant accomplishments.”
Celina enrolled at Harvard in 2013, was later named one of the “15 Hottest Freshman,” graduated Magna cum laude in 2017 with a BA in Psychology, Global Health and Health Policy, and received her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2022.
She is now a resident physician at Mount Sinai, according to her LinkedIn.
The documents further reveal that Epstein kept a box labeled “Celina Photos” among his personal files, alongside his own childhood pictures.
He also had a “Celina” Spotify playlist featuring tracks including 'Turn Me On,' by David Guetta and Nicki Minaj, 'Club Can’t Handle Me,' by Flo Rida, and Maroon 5 'Moves Like Jagger' remix featuring Christina Aguilera.
In 2014, Celina was named, alongside Epstein’s brother Mark, as a beneficiary of his trust. The family said she was unaware of this designation and did not benefit from it.
“Celina never received any personal benefit from, and was unaware that she was named in any Epstein trust. In April 2020, when she found out that she was listed as a contingent beneficiary, she immediately signed a Renunciation and Disclaimer Form and submitted it to the trustees of Mr. Epstein’s estate,” the spokesperson said.
As of September 2024, Epstein’s trust reportedly held $127 million in remaining assets, after paying more than $125 million to over 100 victims.
“As she has long stated, Dr. Eva Dubin was horrified by the unspeakable acts committed by Mr. Epstein. She is deeply pained that her friendship with him has dragged her children into the public eye - through no fault of their own,” the family spokesperson said.
“Dr. Dubin never witnessed, nor was she aware of, Epstein’s conduct. Had she known, she would have severed all ties immediately and never allowed him near her children,” the statement concluded.
Newly Exposed Connections
The Celina revelations are part of a wider cache of newly released Epstein files that detail his connections with other high-profile figures.
In 2016, after the Daily Mail reported that former Congressman Anthony Weiner had asked a 15-year-old girl to undress and enact rape fantasies, Previn forwarded the article to Epstein. He replied: "Wow."
Previn responded: "I know. I also thought it was disgusting what the 15-year-old did...I hate women who take advantage of guys, and she is definitely one of them. She knew exactly what she was doing and how vulnerable (Weiner) was and she reeled him in like fish to bait," she continued.
"What is her excuse for being a despicable and disgusting person who preys on the week (sic)."
She added: "Most importantly, I feel sorry for his wife," and concluded: "So manipulative on her part. She should be ashamed of herself."
Other exchanges revealed flirtatious and dark humor between Epstein and Allen’s accounts.
In 2017, Epstein told Previn: "You are sOOOOO funny." She responded, "I'll have Woody put pressure on you. That way you'll be bookended."
In 2018, she wrote: "Woody said that you are probably thrilled that you met me. That you probably have never met anyone so much on the take, not even in politics."
Epstein responded: "Idi amin," adding: "He didnt just cause heartburn he ate them. Hearts."
In another 2016 message, the person using Allen’s phone wrote: "You should be so lucky. Once I get out my whip they will."
That same year, Epstein purchased Previn a Hermes Apple Watch worth up to $1,950. She replied: "OMG you give the best gifts ever."
The files also show Epstein advising Previn after she gave a 2018 interview to New York Magazine. When she admitted she once ate a bar of soap in distress, Epstein commented: "Let's say it doesn't portray a healthy mental state."
Previn replied: "Mia's people threatened to sue the magazine. It was pile on." Epstein answered: "DONT give up. It is ok if it is step one. But it cannot rest here."
When Previn expressed concern about media outside her home, Epstein advised: "Try to look cute" and "Try hard."
