Witnesses make new claim about condition of dad who fell 10-storeys to his death at Madison Square Garden
At a concert last weekend, a 51-year-old man plummeted to his death, and witnesses now claim that he appeared intoxicated when he dived headfirst from the balcony.
Allegedly, Connecticut father-of-two Paul Kueker jumped over the four-foot glass barrier at Madison Square Gardens while “under the influence” and landed on fellow concert goers below.
He was captured in footage taking a head-first dive from a balcony in the 300s section, falling 10 storeys to his tragic death.
According to police, Kueker was found 'unconscious and unresponsive' after striking the ground at the Goose concert shortly before 10 pm on Saturday.
He was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to Bellevue Hospital.
Sources said that the people he landed on, while traumatised, only suffered minor injuries.
Venue staff promptly cleared at least seven rows in the area where the tragedy happened, according to fan photos shared on social media.
Kueker's wife did not witness the fall
Reportedly, Kueker’s wife was unaware of what had happened until officials told her as she was sitting in their designated seats three sections away when her husband of 25 years jumped and assumed that he had just gone to the bathroom.
New York’s medical examiner’s office said that the cause of Kueker’s death remains under investigation.
It is currently conducting a toxicology report as part of its probe.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Madison Square Gardens said: “While we await the police report on the tragedy at last night’s Goose concert, we are deeply saddened by the loss of a fan’s life at Madison Square Garden.
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the concertgoer.”
The band has been left "heartbroken" by the tragic incident
Despite the incident, the band performed its full 16-song setlist and ended the concert shortly before midnight, as the performers did not learn of the tragedy until after the show.
Goose, which consists of Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weeks, Peter Anspach, and Cotter Ellis, said in a statement that it was 'heartbroken' after learning of the tragedy during their show.
The rock band, also from Connecticut, added: “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show.
“We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected.
"Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”
