A judge couldn't help but berate a man after seeing his unfortunate username during a virtual court appearance.

According to VICE, Judge Jeffrey Middleton, who was presiding over a virtual court hearing held on Zoom from the St. Joseph County courthouse in the state of Michigan, was deeply offended by defendant Nathan Saxaon's online handle.

As you can see in the video below, when Saxaon (at the bottom left-hand side of the call) logged into the Zoom call, his username read: "Buttf***er 3000" - a name that was naturally highly inappropriate for a court setting.

Take a look at the toe-curling footage of the incident in the video below:

In the video, Judge Middleton asks Saxaon: "Good morning sir, what's your name?"

When Saxaon answered with his real name, Middleton retorted: "Your name's not Butt****er 3000, you [yahoo]. Logging in to my court with that as your screenname. What kind of idiot logs into court like that?"

Clearly horrified at the blunder, Saxaon protested that he didn't have any idea that his username was an offensive one. But Judge Middleton promptly dumped him in the waiting room and made him change his username.

Upon reappearing, Saxaon said: "Your honor, if I may explain, I think it was whenever I set up my Zoom account or whatever.

"Butt, um, F’er, is my iPhone pairing name for my Bluetooth speaker sir. It’s an inside joke. I’m embarrassed. I’m sorry."

The defendant managed to escape the contempt of court charges but later pled guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a syringe with methamphetamine residue in it inside his truck during a traffic stop.

However, this is far from the first time that someone has made an embarrassing gaffe during a Zoom court call.

Back in February, during a Zoom conference call for the 394th Judicial District Court of Brewster, Culberson, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, and Presidio Counties in Texas, lawyer Rod Ponton was left floundering after a face filter turned him into a gigantic white kitten.

Judge Ferguson later shared a clip of the mishap on Twitter, writing: "IMPORTANT ZOOM TIP: If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off.

"This kitten just made a formal announcement on a case in the 394th [sic]."
