People have spotted an eerie coincidence that links Charlie Kirk's assassination to a Nicolas Cage movie from 1998.
Kirk was shot in the neck at Utah Valley University on September 10, and 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a Utah native, has since been arrested in connection with the incident.
The shocking death has now led to waves of speculation online, with many drawing comparisons to a Nicolas Cage thriller released more than two decades ago.
The Nicolas Cage Connection
Social media users quickly noticed similarities between Kirk’s death and Snake Eyes, a 1998 Brian De Palma film starring Nicolas Cage as corrupt detective Rick Santoro.
In the movie, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Charles Kirkland, is assassinated during a boxing match - sparking a conspiracy-filled investigation.
Fans pointed out that Kirk’s full name was Charles James Kirk, making the fictional “Charles Kirkland” appear strikingly close.
In the movie, Kirkland is shot in the neck - echoing how witnesses and videos showed Kirk was fatally wounded in the side of his neck.
Another detail fueling speculation is the name Lincoln Tyler, the fighter who takes a fall in the boxing match when Kirkland is killed.
Online sleuths have connected this to Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of killing Charlie Kirk.
Was September 10 Predicted?
Some users have even claimed that the fictional assassination in Snake Eyes happened on September 10, the same date as Kirk’s death.
However, the date is not explicitly confirmed in the film.
Others pointed out a further coincidence: part of Snake Eyes was filmed at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.
The character Gilbert Powell is said to be based on Donald Trump, who was a close ally of Kirk’s during his political career.
Social Media Reacts to the Coincidences
The online chatter has been relentless, with posts on X debating whether the film was an eerie coincidence or something more sinister.
One person wrote: “Wait, let me get this straight.
"In 1998, there was a movie where a political figure name Charlie Kirkland, gets assassinated by Tyler the executioner, on September 10th, and the entire world watches the execution?
"There is no way this is true."
Another remarked: “Predictive Programming: How a 1998 Nicolas Cage Movie Scripted the Death of Charlie Kirk.”
Others were more blunt: “The coincidence in this movie are to many like the Charlie Kirk murder, this cannot be coincidence,” while another insisted: “There are no coincidences. Charlie Kirk was an inside job.”
Despite the frenzy, there is no evidence linking the 1998 film to Kirk’s assassination.
Analysts have noted that while names and details line up in uncanny ways, most of the “predictions” are exaggerated or misinterpreted.
