A vegan influencer burst into tears after trying meat for the first time in 14 years.
The user, called Lovesoostrong, recorded herself cooking and eating steak, alongside her husband.
But her reaction to trying the meat after spending the last 14 years being vegan caught many users off guard.
After spending the last 14 years as a vegan - and building an online following around it - influencer Lovesoostrong decided to mark the occasion by cooking and eating steak for the first time.
"I've been vegan for 14 years," she said, showing the packet of steak to the camera. "But today is the day."
Along with her husband, the user opened the steak and began to cook it in the pan, but seemed nervous even before she started eating it.
"I'm nervous," she told her husband.
"I think I'm more nervous than you," he told her, before she asked him if the steak was "too rare" to eat at first.
"Guys, I'm really nervous," she told the audience, before bending down to smell the now-cooked steak, before admitting to her partner that it, "didn't smell good."
Attempting to eat the meat, the woman starts physically shaking in front of the camera, saying that "she has PTSD" before starting to cry.
"People said bad things to me because i was vegan," she admits. "I'm going to eat it. I want to. I just don't know how to do it."
She then takes her first bite of meat in 14 years before bursting into tears while chewing it.
"It tastes so good," she admits while breaking down. "I thought it would taste really bad but it tastes good."
She continues to cry, but then tells her husband, after drying her tears, that she's going to continue eating the rest of the steak.
Users watching the video were mixed in their reaction.
"Good on [you]," one user responded. "Don't feel bad for eating meat. You got to do what you got to do."
Another was more skeptical, adding: "I hope you didn't break the 14 year commitment [to veganism] just for views."
One supportive viewer told her: "I love this for you. You are allowed to change your mind without guilt or without caring what anyone thinks. I was so happy to see you enjoy your steak."
But perhaps one jokey comment summed up the experience best: "Welcome to the dark side."

Bizarre footage showing meat spasming has left many people considering plant-based diets as a permanent dietary choice.
The resurfaced video - which was shared on the X account @weirdterrifying - reveals a butcher holding a slab of meat to the camera so viewers can get a better look at it.
After the meat is slathered in salt - which is done to draw out the water from the surface and help preserve it in the long run - it suddenly erupts into spasms.
This unpleasant side effect makes the flesh look as though it were still alive, leaving many people feeling very disturbed.
Check out the unsettling video below:In response to the video being shared on the platform X, one shocked user wrote: "I’m a vegetarian now," while another shared a similar comment: "Planning vegetarian diet from now on, that’s horrible!!"
A third user was so stunned by the uneasy clip that they penned: "OHMYGoodness! THIS FREAKED ME OUT I thought there was something in it like worms or something...umm yeah, I'ma give beef a break maybe."
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization also slid into the comment section to offer their thoughts, stating: "Here’s a reminder that your meat was once a living being. Horrified? Go vegan."
In another tweet, they added: "We can harm fewer plants by going vegan, because eating plants directly, rather than feeding them to animals and then butchering those animals for their flesh, requires far fewer plants and hurts fewer animals."
Well, there's no need to panic as there's a scientific explanation behind the contractions.
According to NPR, when salt (or a salty substance such as soy sauce) is added to freshly killed flesh it causes a chemical reaction that forces the intact and still operational muscles to spasm.
"Extra sodium (the salt) sends ions to the cell that trigger the cell to open up, creating a cascade of chemical activities that causes the cell to fire, so the muscle twitches," Robert Krulwich from NPR explained.
Lv Suwen, an expert at the local animal health department also added: "You can rest assured, this piece of meat is very fresh and is from a freshly slaughtered animal," per Daily Mail.
"The central nervous system is dead but the nerve-endings in the muscles are still firing resulting in the jumping, because the nerves are not yet dead. This will stop after a short time," she added.

A stomach-curdling video of freshly cut meat "spasming" has left many people considering becoming vegetarians permanently.
A clip shared on the X account @weirdterrifying has circulated on the internet and shows a man, presumably a butcher, holding a slab of meat to the camera so viewers can get a better look at it.
After the meat is slathered in salt - which is done to draw out the water from the surface and help preserve it in the long run - it suddenly bursts into spasms.
This disturbing side effect makes the flesh look as though it were still alive, leaving many people considering a plant-based diet as a permanent lifestyle choice.
Watch the unsettling video below:
Maybe this is what Gordon Ramsay was talking about when he screamed, "It's so raw it's still moo-ing".
In response to the video being shared on the platform X, one shocked user reacted: "I’m a vegetarian now," while another shared a similar comment: "Planning vegetarian diet from now on, that’s horrible!!"
A third person shared: "Well, this picture could make me give up eating meat," and a fourth user added the video is why they "prefer not to eat meat, where possible".
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization also offered their thoughts after watching the unsettling clip, advising people to give up meat. "Here’s a reminder that your meat was once a living being. Horrified? Go vegan," they penned in one post.
In another, they explained: "We can harm fewer plants by going vegan, because eating plants directly, rather than feeding them to animals and then butchering those animals for their flesh, requires far fewer plants and hurts fewer animals."
Thankfully, there's a scientific explanation behind the contractions.
According to NPR, when salt (or a salty substance such as soy sauce) is added to freshly killed meat, it causes a chemical reaction that forces the intact and still operational muscles to spasm.
"Extra sodium (the salt) sends ions to the cell that trigger the cell to open up, creating a cascade of chemical activities that causes the cell to fire, so the muscle twitches," Robert Krulwich from NPR explained.
Lv Suwen, an expert at the local animal health department also shared some comments, noting: "You can rest assured, this piece of meat is very fresh and is from a freshly slaughtered animal," per Daily Mail.
"The central nervous system is dead but the nerve-endings in the muscles are still firing resulting in the jumping, because the nerves are not yet dead. This will stop after a short time," she added.
A video circulating on social media of freshly cut meat is ruining people's appetite and causing some people to declare they want to turn vegetarian.
Meat eaters and vegetarians often appear to be constantly at odds with each other over dietary choices and requirements, and much like cats and dogs it seems nobody will see eye to eye.
Vegetarians and vegans often seem exasperated that those who chose to eat meat appear to disregard their pleas of wanting to save animal lives and help the environment.
Then meat eaters accuse those who have chosen a plant-based diet of being overwhelming and pushy about their views when a diet is a personal choice.
Meat eaters may soon be questioning the choices of what they consume following a viral video that is, quite honestly, incredibly gross.
The video has been viewed over 250,000 times since it was shared on Twitter, and appears to show the freshly cut meat spasming and moving when salt is applied.
Looking like it has come straight out of a horror movie, the muscle has a mind of its own as it twitches and flaps about uncontrollably.
The same gross twitching - or intriguing depending on how you look at it - has been seen to happen with squid and frog legs when soy sauce is added.
There's no need to panic - it's not the animal trying to come back to life to seek its revenge - there's a scientific explanation behind the contractions.
As per NPR, when salt (or a salty substance such as soy sauce) is added to freshly killed flesh it causes a chemical reaction that forces the intact and still operational muscles to spasm.
"Extra sodium (the salt) sends ions to the cell that trigger the cell to open up, creating a cascade of chemical activities that causes the cell to fire, so the muscle twitches," Robert Krulwich from NPR states.
Regardless of the science behind it, people still think watching a chunk of flesh moving of its own accord to be quite disgusting, with one Twitter user saying: "Well, this picture could make me give up eating meat."
A second person said: "honestly - can watch a lot of vegetarian/vegan horror videos of factory farming etc. BUT...this actually affects my mind more...might be doing meatless for a few days now."
A third person added: "Yo! I ain't eating meat again," with a fourth saying: "I could've done without this knowledge."
The video is sure to put people off their dinner, if not stop them from eating meat altogether.

A former vegan influencer has shocked her fans after going on a "carnivore diet" for 30 days.
Alyse Parker took to her Instagram and YouTube accounts to reveal that she had absconded from her meat and dairy-free lifestyle, and was only eating animal products for a month. Parker, who has been vegan for almost five years, rose to fame on the back of her plant-based and exercise content, and accordingly, her 207K followers were taken aback by the news.
The carnivore diet restricts you to only eating meat, fish, and other animal products including eggs. It excludes all other food groups, including fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes.
This vegan said that a plant-based lifestyle made him sick...

Parker shared her decision-making process in an Instagram post. "By this point, you probably know that I looove trying new things, running little experiments, and diving into challenges of all sorts," she wrote.

"Yehhh — some may call me crazy.. But I’m a firm believer in experiencing things first hand + getting a real feel for what something is all about before I form a personal opinion on it [sic]."
"The Carnivore Diet first came into my awareness when a close friend shared with me all of the benefits that he was experiencing by eating this way," she continued. "Coming from being vegan 4.5 years, I was hellla resistant to the concept of eating ONLY animal foods (aka only meat, seafood, + eggs). I didn’t make ANY sense to me. It actually sounded pretty f*cking ridiculous [sic]."

"But oddly enough, I started to hear story after story from my fellow vegan friends jumping ship, testing out the carnivore diet and experiencing amazing health transformations. I was so confused. But I had my own fair share of health struggles and eventually reached a breaking point where I was willing to try anything to function properly again. With an online community of 800,000 people ~ many of which were primarily showing up for my vegan related content... I was a bit conflicted to say the least [sic].
"But I knew I needed to make decisions based on what was in the best interest for my health. I swallowed my pride + decided I’d give it a shot. Full onnn carnivore. I woke up the next morning feeling more mentally clear, focused, wholesome, and healthy than I had felt in years. God bless. But also, WTF? My vegan identity crumbled immediately [sic]."

She continued: "This past year of my life has been a journey of remembering who I am separate from what I eat. In hopes of challenging others to step out of their current perspective ~ I documented my newest challenge of eating only meat for 30 days."

Parker's announcement proved to be contentious with her followers. "I’m so confused as to how someone can be vegan for 4.5 years and then eat meat? Grass-fed and humanely raised doesn’t mean they are 'humanely' slaughtered to pieces," commented one social media user, while another corroborated "Sorry, we have to unfollow. So disappointing. Food is more than a lifestyle. It’s a sign of respect for life. Choose compassion."
Another user typed: "Good luck with cancer and your arteries. Also you don’t have the right to contribute toward the rape and slaughter of another individual."
Others, however, were pleased that the influencer had found a diet that made her feel healthy. "Inspired by you, that no matter the opinions of others, that you stand true to who you are!!! girl keep it up! whatever keeps your body mind & soul healthy in your shoes, do it! prayers for you," wrote one follower.
A mother has sparked a debate online after sharing videos of her six-month-old baby eating a bloody steak, and it's safe to say some people aren't happy.
There seems to be a constant debate about what infants should and should not be eating, with different generations and cultures having various ways of raising their kids.
One thing that seems to be widely agreed upon is the need for milk from the mother or other sources during the first stage of life.
Transitioning onto solid foods is a big step in a baby's life, with most parents opting for mushed-up vegetables or something along those lines - but one mother decided to cut out the middle man and handed her baby a chunk of steak.
TikTok user Katie (@mrskatieharley) shared a video that has since been viewed over 200,000 times where her six-month-old child happily chews on a steak.
The caption reads: "People loooove [sic] giving parenting advice to people who didn’t ask," and the text on the video thanks all the people who have criticized the mother's parenting methods for viewing the video.
Naturally, seeing a baby eat a chunk of rare steak is quite bizarre, but that's not to say that it didn't go without praise.
One concerned viewer said: "Cool but you should probably cook it a bit more she’s a baby…no hate," while others added that the steak posed a choking risk.
Though it appears that many people support the mother's decisions, and judging by the comments it seems that quite a few people give their children steak from an early age.
"It’s good for them and encourages jaw development and strength," one person said, with another adding: "Finally another mom that does this !!! My baby was underweight at 4 months old and refused baby food and her doctor told me to try regular food."
The mother posted a follow-up video of her baby one year on from the viral video, and it would appear that the infant still enjoys chowing down on a juicy steak.
Would you let your child eat this at such an early age? Let us know in the comments!
