DNA test results have confirmed that the dismembered body parts found in the search for model Abby Choi did belong to the slain model.

As previously reported, Hong Kong police have been investigating the disappearance and subsequent killing of 28-year-old model and influencer Abby Choi.

Choi - who had appeared for Vogue China and graced the front cover of the latest edition of L'Officiel Monaco magazine - was reported missing on February 22. She was reportedly last seen the day prior.

On February 24, police found dismembered body parts in a rental unit in the Tai Po district. The apartment was being rented by Choi's former father-in-law.

Sky News reported at the time that the model's ID and credit cards were found in the unit, along with a series of body parts, an electric saw, and a meat slicer.

Superintendent Alan Chung said at the time: "Police have found that the flat was arranged by cold-blooded killers meticulously.

"Tools that are used to dismember human bodies were found in the flat, including meat grinders, chainsaws, long raincoats, gloves, and masks."

Dismembered legs were found stuffed into a refridgerator and a skull was reportedly found inside of a cooking pot, per BBC News.

"Two pots of stew believed to contain human tissue" were left at the scene, Chung said, per CBS News.

Now, Sky News reports that DNA tests have confirmed that the legs did belong to Choi, along with the skill and ribs that were found in the cooking pot.

Officials state that a hole in the back of the skull may indicate where she was fatally struck.

The South China Morning Post states that the model's torso and hands have not yet been found, but that investigators are continuing to search several locations.

Last week, Superintendent Chung confirmed that Choi's ex-husband, Alex Kwong, was arrested at a pier. Police believe he was attempting to "abscond" the city in a speedboat.

Kwong's mom, dad, and brother were also arrested in connection with the model's death.

Per the New York Post, local media has reported that Kwong, his father, and his brother have all been charged with murder at this time. Kwong's mother has been charged with obstruction.

All four family members have been denied bail.

Two others have also been arrested in connection to the case.

BBC News adds that Choi shared two children with Kwong, and also had two children with Chris Tam, whom she had been in a relationship with since 2016.

Although no motive for Choi's killing has been officially declared, police have told the press that they believe Choi and her former in-laws had several disputes involving "huge sums" of money. Superintendent Chung says that Choi was facing financial disputes involving tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars, and her ex-husband's family was reportedly unhappy with how she handled her finances.

Choi boasted over 80,000 Instagram followers at the time of her death, with her last post being shared on February 19.

Our thoughts go out to Choi's family, friends, and fans at this time.
