Ryan Reynolds is definitely one of the celebrities who makes the most out of their social media presence. He doesn't post too often, but when he does, it's usually a perfectly-crafted joke. Whether it's at the expense of the Kardashians or a
mocking message to his wife, actress
Blake Lively, you can always count on the actor to make you laugh with his Twitter and Instagram posts.
Earlier this week he even sent
a hilarious message to ex-One Directioner Zayn Malik, where he wished the pop star a happy birthday in full Deadpool gear, from the set of the hit superhero comedy's sequel. The disturbing but witty message was then posted to Instagram by
Zayn himself, who clearly saw the humor in the video.

Now Reynolds has done the same for none other than Betty White, for her 96th birthday. The Instagram post wishes a happy birthday to the actress, who has only grown more popular in her later years, becoming a sort of internet sensation and beloved icon for millennials due to her sharp wit.
This follows on from the strange running joke in Deadpool that the costumed anti-hero, Wade Wilson, is a little obsessed with The Golden Girls. In the first movie, Wade can be seen wearing a t-shirt featuring Bea Arthur, one of the stars of the show. This was actually something Reynolds fought to include, even ringing up one of Arthur's sons himself to get permission to use her likeness in the movie. He then made further reference to Arthur in a recent Instagram photo from the set of Deadpool 2.

Seeing as Reynolds is also a producer on Deadpool and the project has been quite personal to him over the years - as it was his idea to get it made - he handles a lot of the promotion himself, and gets into character as often as possible. This Wednesday, he sent out a birthday message to Betty White, in full Deadpool gear, writing:
"Happy Birthday to the one and only @bettymwhite ! Cheers to another year of ‘Tinis and Weenies! "

But this isn't just a one-sided relationship. White appeared with Reynolds in The Proposal, where you can bet Reynolds spoke to her about her former show. You may have missed it, but Betty White actually released a 'review' of Deadpool back in 2016. "I just saw the most anticipated movie of the year, Deadpool," White said in the video. "It was glorious!

"Once in a generation a movie comes along that your whole family will love. If your family is a f***ed up bunch of French-kissing imbreds. Plus, Ryan Reynolds is so f***ing handsome in his red leather suit."
"I give it four Golden Girls. It's the best picture of the year."
Who knows, by time Deadpool's as-of-yet untitled sequel hits theaters, we might be seeing a Betty White cameo on the big screen. We'll have to find out when it's released on May 18.
