One of the saving graces of having your whole life splashed across social media is that, more often than not, your parents are a bit too out of touch to know what's going on. They might have Facebook, sure, but they don't normally use it for much more than sharing minion memes and tagging their friend Sandra in a video about wine.
Essentially, we're usually off the hook when a video of our drunken dancing somehow ends up in a Snapchat story. However, there are some older folks who have managed to master the art of social media better than us millennials - and, boy, do they know how to troll. One man, Chris "Burr" Martin from Spokane in Washington, went viral last year after copying his teenage daughter's Instagram posts in amazing detail - right down to the expression on her face and the tattoos on her body. And, like any father committed to his embarrassing schemes, he's still at it. [[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BZuTxNJHCuL]] In an interview with People, Martin - who is a warehouse inventory worker and part-time comedian - spoke about what sort of reception his Insta antics has received. "I wondered if it might get old — I didn’t want to get to the point where I was pathetic for attention," he said. "But since I started posting again more regularly, I've experienced a resurgence. People seem to love it, and that makes me happy." Martin's daughter, Cassie, is totally fine with the whole thing. In fact, she seems to enjoy her dad's posts more than anyone else. "I know there’s a chance he's going to imitate [my posts]," she said, "but it’s always a lot of fun. Probably the funniest thing is when he draws on a tattoo and it’s still there the next day because he couldn’t remove it." [[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BY4ourjn54k/]] Martin appears to have quite a flair taking selfies, too, as his Instagram account now has twice as many followers as his daughter's. Plus, with 152,000 people enjoying his posts, he has a larger fanbase than some celebrities. The impact that Chris and Cassie have on people seems really positive, too, and Martin has received several messages thanking him for what he does. "A mom with a daughter with autism emailed to say that they both looked forward to them and it always made their day brighter," he said, "and a man who had lost his daughter told me that my selfies made him laugh for the first time in a long while. It's wonderful to know that this is ringing deeper than just a stupid thing that I did." [[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BU5LaZnA40y/]] The idea originally came to Martin after he saw a picture of his daughter that he considered to be a little too revealing. "I thought, 'Wow, that should be toned down.' "There’s too much pressure for everybody to look sexy on the Internet. It’s such a weird thing: Teenage girls are always posting these selfies to boost their egos, then they’ll get crude comments and regret it. But what do they do? They post again. So I thought, 'OK, I'm going to make a point here.'" So, while Martin's posts may seem like nothing more than a harmless bit of fun, they're also sending out an important message to young people using social media.A bodybuilder has received widespread criticism online after he "bragged" about his lean baby.
Jack Reynolds took to Twitter to discuss his "unusually handsome son", who is just eight months old, explaining that the tot is thriving on a diet of eggs, fruit, and vegetables.
"We grind up his vegetables/proteins most the time, until he can chomp away on his own," he wrote on Twitter under @RedepmtiveKing.
He added: "He's lean bc he isn't eating processed sh*t."
The bodybuilder then explained that his son fell into the 70 percentile for weight, despite being in the top 99% for his height and head size.
Jack included a photograph of himself with his partner and their son alongside the dietary explanation, however, he had blurred their faces for privacy reasons.
The post received a mixed, but largely negative response on the social media website, with some praising Jack for doing what he thinks is best by his son and others describing it as "gross".
A fan wrote: "[You're] putting the time, thought, effort into providing only the best for your Son. [Too] often parents turn to what's convenient, what's quick. Proud of you & cant wait to watch him break lifting records at 5 [sic]"
A like-minded Twitter user added: "Same dude. Just introduced my little man to potatoes and he won't stop screaming for more. Getting baby food from the store doesn't even compute with me."
However, not everyone believed that it was appropriate to brag about having a "lean" baby.
Alongside two laughing emoji, one Twitter user wrote: "He's a f**king baby dude what."
A second questioned: "What do you think is in baby food my good man [sic]."
A third wrote: "ok but your baby is still fat tho [sic]."
A fourth added: "My kid loves vegetables too, I don't sit there and humble brag about it on the Internet like a f**kin weirdo [sic]."
Meanwhile, a fifth simply joked: "Who calls a baby lean."
What do you think of Jack's parenting approach? Healthy, or should he keep his son's diet off the internet?
A fitness influencer has defended herself following backlash after she posed in a bikini in front of her 15-year-old son.
Sophie Guidolin, a prominent figure in the fitness community, is no stranger to sharing candid snaps of herself showing off her impressive physique.
In the post that sparked backlash, Guidolin titled the video: "POV: Your mama is an IFBB Bikini Pro."
The video was accompanied by a caption addressing previous criticism Guidolin has faced for wearing bikinis in front of her son.
"Lol remember when the media tried to shame me for wearing a bikini in front of my son… forgetting I was an #ifbbbikinipro and I do this as a sport," she wrote. "My son doesn’t sexualize my body so why do others. This my friends is 13 years of hard work."
Predictably, reactions to the video were varied.
One person said: "Your son is clearly very inspired by you. Why do people have to make it weird when it’s obviously not," while a second supporter said: "All I can see is hard work and dedication. Your son would be proud."
A third reacted: "Creepy. I feel sorry for you and your son," while another critic added: "I promise you it’s weird… the last thing I’d want to see is my mom in a thong.. let alone doing it to post on social media saying how I’m ok with it and all my friends see it.. creepy."
Guidolin, a 34-year-old mother of four and founder of the online health and fitness program, The Bod, has long been committed to empowering women in their fitness journeys.
Despite the occasional backlash, she remains committed to her mission to promote body positivity and self-confidence.
"WE LIVE IN THE GOLD COAST, Australia. Where wearing a bikini to the beach is so beyond normal, that I didn’t even consider having to place a disclaimer on this photo," Guidolin captioned a post, as per News.com.au.
"When Kai woke up, I was in the pool and yes- in a bikini (as I am most days). I wanted a photo straight away as he wanted to ride his bike and go out riding all day immediately.
“Do I have a problem wearing a bikini in front of my sons? NO WAY. Why? Because I’m not sexualized to him, nor have I ever been. If you have an issue, maybe you should look into why you feel you have to sexualize a woman’s body instead of it simply being a mum and her son at the pool!"
Addressing the backlash in another Instagram story, the influencer explained: "Guys, I just sat down with Kai. He just came back from bike riding and I was like, 'Mate, did you ever find a problem with my post this morning?' And he’s like, 'For real what?' And I was like, 'Because I was in a bikini' – and his response was, 'You’re always in a bikini.'"
She went on: "I would like to normalize the narrative of our bodies being simply that and it not being sexualized. There is nothing sexualized about that photo. I would often hug him, cuddle him, snuggle him in bed. I’m very close with the boys, I don’t see anything wrong with that."

I imagine that being the father of a pretty famous model must get tough at times. While you'd no doubt be delighted that your daughter is making waves and being successful in her field of work, having to see regular, scantily-clad images of your daughter must be pretty hard.
One person who knows all too well about this struggle is Alec Baldwin. The actor, 60, has a 22-year-old daughter who is making waves in the modelling industry.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BmaBzVhgvbo/?hl=en&taken-by=irelandbasingerbaldwin]]
Ireland Baldwin has amassed 427,000 followers on Instagram through her good looks and envious frame. Known by many as the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, the model has been keen to carve her own way in the modelling industry and is determined to make a name for herself away from her famous family. However, due to her connections, Ireland's career often draws a comparison to Hailey Baldwin - her cousin.
“Honestly, me and Hailey have such a different brand and look,” Ireland explained, insisting that there's no competitiveness between the two of them. “We just are interested in different things, and she’s absolutely stunning. When I see her in person — I just saw her last week — and when I see her, she’s still my little cousin. We still rag on each other and joke around and we’re family. That’s really how it is.”
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BmL2zpZABS4/?hl=en&taken-by=irelandbasingerbaldwin]]
She continued to gush about how exciting it is to watch Hailey succeed. “She’s always been such a character that I think her being as public as she is now, and doing all the campaigns and the jobs and covers and whatever it is she’s doing, I think it’s just really exciting to see her getting all these things,” she added. “I’m so proud of her.”
While Hailey is now one of the most recognisable models on the planet and engaged to Justin Bieber, Ireland is still climbing the ladder to international stardom. And, of course, being a model, Ireland is more than proud to flaunt her figure every now and then on Instagram. Her father, however, is not so keen.

Taking to her account to upload a racy photo in which Ireland can be seen perched on top of a motorcycle wearing a bikini and posing suggestively, Alec Baldwin commented a comment that literally every father on the planet would write: "No. Just... no.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmo1ZH8B0WH/?utm_source=ig_embed]]
While Baldwin's comment was obviously in jest, it's easy to understand his struggle. Still, despite the comment, it seems like the pair get on exceptionally well. On father's day of last year, Ireland posted a heartwarming caption to her father, writing: "I love you. I always have and I always will. You're unique. You're strong. You're by far the funniest person I've ever known or will ever know and you make me so proud to be related to you. Thank you for all that you've ever taught me. ... I love you and thank you for always lifting me up and helping me figure out who I am!"

Who'd be a father to a successful model, hey?
