The Oscars are a big deal, a huge deal, an even bigger deal than FN2187 in that war in space franchise. Anyway, the Academy Awards is the event in the Hollywood calendar that sees more than just the stars nominated popping out of the metaphorical woodwork in their finery.
The event is known to attract those from all across the world of popular media, music, TV, film, philanthropy, you name it. The word "finery" could not be more paramount. The red carpet is quite easily thought of in layman's terms as a catwalk and fashion show. Those who follow the esteemed event will struggle to disagree and will likely be distracted by the garments of past Oscars attendees anyway.
And so as you have probably guessed by now, we are here to list, in no particular order, as usual, 30 red carpet-outfits from The Oscars in recent years that have left a mark on the global beholders eager for a glimpse of these influential trendsetters! Daniel Kaluuya was dressed for victory after all!
[post_page_title]#1 Keira Knightly[/post_page_title]
At the 78th incarnation of the Oscars in 2006, Kierra Knightly was nominated for her role in Pride and Prejudice, and her attire for the evening was rather fitting.
The British actress chose to wear something 70% classy matched 30% fancy, and it's safe to say, it went down well. A far cry from football shorts or pirate attire anyway!
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#2 Nicole Kidman[/post_page_title]
At the 2018 Oscars, the seminal Hollywood name that is Nicole Kidman chose to rock-up in this ambitious blue-number that is certainly memorable but in a way that I'm not quite sure how to articulate.
The star has a tremendous habit to look great whatever she wears, but as much as she does here, this is still at least minorly questionable.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#3 Saoirse Ronan[/post_page_title]
Another from the prestigious ceremonies 90th iteration in 2018, we have how to dress up and down simultaneously without overdoing it either.
Ronan's dress is memorable for all the right reasons, simple, classy, and as much as I hate to use the term, pretty in pink. Saoirse Ronan seems well aware that sometimes, the classics and simplicity never go out of style.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#4 TimothŽe Chalamet[/post_page_title]
Again in 2018, Interstellar star, TimothŽe Chalamet, chose to walk-up-and-down the red carpet in a crisp slim-fit suit that blended in well enough with the night's proceedings.
It's a good job that he didn't opt for white shoes because that would be overkill.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#5 Jennifer Aniston[/post_page_title]
At the 78th awards in 2006, the star-studded attendees and famous faces were graced by Jennifer Aniston who is memorable and beloved enough for her role as the ever-confused Rachel from Friends.
The star, who never really seems to age much at all, chose to adorn a classy, simply dress for the evening and rocked it.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#6 Dolly Parton[/post_page_title]
Still, in 2006, we have what Dolly Parton wore to 78th Annual Academy Awards. Did you expect anything less from the illustrious Country-singer and American household name?
Do even try to say yes or answer that in anything other than a resounding agreement with my statement, now! All things considered, she looks fabulous, and this is surprisingly tame compared to her attire at most of her own events!
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#7 Nicole Kidman (Again)[/post_page_title]
The year 2007 saw the 79th edition of the awards and also saw Nicole Kidman not only walk the carpet and own it as she usually does but become the carpet in her elegant yet ambitious dress.
To be completely honest, I could easily do a list entirely dedicated to the star herself considering the variety in which she chooses to dress herself in at ceremonies such as this.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#8 Beyoncé Knowles[/post_page_title]
At the very same 79th event in 2007, the stars were in abundance and Beyoncé, as usual, was eager to stand out and make her mark.
Simple, yet standout and classy, the singer-superstar did what she does best like the icon she is for many.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#9 Halle Berry[/post_page_title]
The 74th annual awards in 2002 saw Halle Berry wear something ambitious enough that it split critics and got slated in the online world perhaps a little unfairly.
The unwritten rule - although I'm sure it is written somewhere - is that these awards are not for casual and or attire that is a little too normal. In essence, there are no rules, and Halle did a great job working through this mantra!
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#10 Cameron Diaz[/post_page_title]
Cameron Diaz wore this confusing, but not horrible, dress and the 74th Oscars ceremony in 2002.
When I was scrolling through the near-inexhaustible archives of photos focused on this yearly event, I initially thought Diaz was wearing a strawberries and cream themed dress, but then I looked out the window and looked at the British rain and negated such wishful thinking and dreams of summer.
She looks nice, it's just, a little odd.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#11 Robin Williams[/post_page_title]
I felt I had to put this one in honor of such a great man. Robin Williams in 2005 at the 77th annual shindig went for a twist on the traditional dress and owned it.
Rest easy my good man.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#12 Prince[/post_page_title]
Sticking with the same year above, we have another star that was lost in recent years, the iconic and unequivocally idiosyncratic, Prince.
I mean, what else would he wear? Come on now.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#13 Sarah Jessica Parker[/post_page_title]
In 2009, Sex In The City star, Sarah Jessica Parker wore a dress befitting of her tendency to look consistently glamourous.
Sometimes, things are memorable because they aren't. Fashion is weird.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#14 Zoe Saldana[/post_page_title]
Actress Zoe Saldana at the 82nd event 2010 wore perhaps my favorite on this list based on its tonal color-scheme alone!
The American actress' dress was nothing overtly weird and wonderful in its shape or design, flash, maybe but that's as far as that went. However, her gradual tonal color choices saw her stand out even more away from her beaming smile.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#15 Jennifer Lopez[/post_page_title]
J.Lo is another that warrants a list of her own, one that would absolutely have this image front and center. This one was taken from her attire in attendance at the 82nd Oscars in 2010.
Jennifer is another on this list of stars in the sky that apparently doesn't age and looks exactly like the above to this day.
Well, I mean, I would assume she's got changed a few hundred times.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#16 Scarlett Johansson[/post_page_title]
At the 83rd iteration of the awards and fabled red carpet flaunt-fest, Scarlett Johansson showed the world how seamless her looking the part really is for her to achieve.
As you'd expect, the now 35-year-old actress is another always manages to look amazing and yet, you guessed, DOESN'T AGE!
We are over the halfway line here and I'm half tempted to rename this list in honor of those who age, so, so well.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#17 will.i.am[/post_page_title]
When I was scrolling through images of the 87th Academy Awards, I saw out of the corner of my eye, this human being and felt he had to go in.
The Oscars and ceremonies like it are ample occasions for stars and attendees to flaunt their style and best attire in a manner that they have complete control over.
Are you really surprised here? I'm not! Hats off will.i.am!
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#19 Margot Robbie[/post_page_title]
The Australian actress continued with her well-known legacy for looking stunning, classy and standout the ceremonies of 2015.
And in the words of the great prophet Forrest Gump, that's all I have to say about that.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#20 Rachel Weisz[/post_page_title]
However, to contrast much of the recent entries on this list, we have the other side of ambitious and one far nearer to plain damn weird. At the 91st edition, the most recent Oscars, Rachel Weiz caused a red alert.
I don't get it. Each to their own but quite expectedly, it caused quite a stir on the fashionista realms of the interwebs.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#21 Linda Cardellini[/post_page_title]
The previous example was placed strategically. For this next example, also from the 91st awards in 2019, takes us further up the fashionably weird scale. Enter, actress, Linda Cardellini.
Is it a dress? Is she wearing it? Is it wearing her? Is it some sort of sentient symbiotic lifeform? So many questions.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#22 Salma Hayek[/post_page_title]
In 2018, Salma Hayek, who is another with the uncanny ability to look stunning in either anything she wears or most of the time, with little to no effort compared to her contemporaries, got a lot of stick for wearing this.
I don't get it, she's as effortlessly striking and memorable as she always is. But then again, what do I know?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#23 Uma Thurman[/post_page_title]
The 76th annual Academy Awards saw Uma Thurman inspired by the attire of ancient Greece.
What else do you want me to say? The stewards wit clipboards to the right clearly agree.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#24 Dianne Keaton[/post_page_title]
In 2004, Dianne Keaton completely owned the red carpet with this Mafia-esque attire at the Oscars event.
Is it memorable? Yes. Does it stand out? Yes. Is it a little abstract? Yes. Is it totally her? Hell yeah.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#25 Whoopi Goldberg[/post_page_title]
At the 81st Oscars shindig that took place in 2009, Whoopi Goldberg wore this.
And no one was surprised.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#26 John Travolta[/post_page_title]
John Travolta is smart, suave, sexy, sophisticated. These are all words that are pretty generally associated with his name and to be honest, always have been. The Grease star, again, pretty generally, looks his best. Usually.
It is time to be brutally honest now, at these ceremonies, most male stars tend to look remarkably similar, so when they do stand out, it's more than noticeable. What is going on with that chain?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#27 Mikey Rourke[/post_page_title]
Please read the closing statement on the previous entry before scrolling. Read it? Good. Enter Mickey Rourke.
I'm not saying he doesn't look good, because he absolutely and undeniably does! But yeah, as expected, the internet took to his outfit choice a little negatively.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#28 Celion Dion[/post_page_title]
Ah, the '90s weren't they great! Well, so I'm told, having only been born in 1991, I can't recall too much more than, well, not a lot. Who knows what I got up to! Anyway, look at this one from 1999, via voicebox-star Celine Dion.
Smart, sophisticated and really not what you'd think to see at such an event but there we go, the 90s!
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#29 Janelle Monae[/post_page_title]
The year 2017 saw Janelle Monae attend the proceedings in Hollywood-town with this ambitious, stand-out and quite frankly stunning number. The singer is known for owning her abstract attire on stage so why should it be any different on the prestigious red carpet?
It shouldn't. At all.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#30 Tonya Lewis Lee and Spike Lee[/post_page_title]
Closing this list, we have an example from 2019 and the most recent festivities. Much like the other past events, the 91st saw a huge star-studded group full of the notorious names from Hollywood and further. As per usual, the garments adorned for such an event were nothing but interesting.
Individually these outfits would be perhaps a little precarious, but together, they are complementary, contrasting and unstoppable.
Here to many more years of "interesting" outfits!

The Oscars. We tend to watch them for two reasons. One, we want to know who wins what for the acting categories as well as a picture of the year - every other category is meh. And two, we watch the Oscars for the fashion. Nothing tops the red carpet walk where we get to see our favorite A-listers parade down the red carpet in the latest, most daring fashion creations. Now, Oscar season is right around the corner, we're going to take a little trip down memory lane to look back at some of the outfits that still stick in our minds - the good, the bad, and the ugly.
[post_page_title]#1 Bjork[/post_page_title]
Worn to the 73rd Academy Awards, who can forget about this dress? It's so horrendous! But it's also so iconic, having been parodied and referenced since. The Icelandic singer Bjork has always had a quirky sense of style, but this one might be the weirdest one yet.
No wonder the swan dress still sticks out in our minds. While the whole point of the dress attire for the evening is to bring elegance and glamour, nothing disrupts that quite like showing up like an extra in a high school production of Swan Lake. It is definitely one that will be going in the history books for sure.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]#2 Billy Porter[/post_page_title]
"Yaaaas Queen! Werk!" You could almost hear it as Billy Porter strutted the red carpet at the 91st Academy Awards wearing this Christian Siriano gown. At a time, when gender identity and gender role constructs are being challenged and questioned, Porter - the star of the hit TV show Pose - threw the gender roles of clothing out the window.
Not only was his choice a very politically charged statement towards inclusivity and acceptance, but it was also a very personal choice for the actor who revealed that he'd always wanted to wear a ballgown himself.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#3 Jennifer Lopez[/post_page_title]
Never a stranger to the red carpet, actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has given us many memorable red carpet looks throughout the years. This one is one of her most iconic Oscars looks since it was so unexpected.
But she proved that taking a fashion risk sometimes pays off for the better. No wonder she usually always makes the best-dressed list of the Oscars. This mint-green one-shoulder dress was an absolute dream on her!
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#4 Hilary Swank[/post_page_title]
Beautiful dress. It's been years since Hilary Swank was walking the red carpet as a nominee - and then subsequent winner - for the 2005 film Million Dollar Baby, and we still remember this dress.
The look was everything. The color was fantastic. The open back was daring. The styling lines were perfect. The dress was absolutely beautiful. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#5 Keira Knightly[/post_page_title]
While she may not have won the award Best Actress for her nomination of her portrayal as feisty Elizabeth Bennett in the film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but she was definitely a winner on the red carpet.
Her dress was stunning, and the necklace that accompanied it was the perfect touch. She definitely deserved her spot on the best-dressed list that year.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#6 Rita Moreno[/post_page_title]
This Hollywood legend has been in the industry for decades! And last year at the 2018 Academy Awards, she pulled something memorable that we'll remember for a long time: she recycled the same dress that she wore to the 1962 Academy Awards.
Talk about an iconic recycle. That means that her gown was hanging in her closet for 56 years! Wow! And she looks just as stunning in her gown as she did when she first wore it, proving that she has aged like a fine wine.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#7 Lupita Nyong'o[/post_page_title]
In 2014, this actress snagged the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film 12 Years A Slave. In addition to the rise in fame she received from this breakout role, she also received attention for her sense of style.
At the awards ceremony, all eyes were on her as she walked the red carpet in this ethereal blue number. It was feminine, it was delicate and just oh-so-beautiful. And her lightly feminine accessories were the perfect touch. The only other thing that could make her dress look better was the Oscar statue that she went on to win later that evening.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#8 Lady Gaga[/post_page_title]
Remember the days when Lady Gaga used to show up to red carpet events in a meat dress or getting carried in by porters in an egg? Yeah, me too. But I am so glad that since then, she has kind of traded in the avant-garde fashion statement pieces for more classic lines.
And she is nailing them. This white number that she wore to 88th Academy Awards was created by designer Brandon Maxwell. It was a dress/pantsuit combination all in one. It was definitely a clever mix of the avant-garde Gaga that we all recognize plus the glamorous Gaga that we've come to discover was in there all along.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#9 Diane Keaton[/post_page_title]
Long before Billy Porter came along to play with gender on the red carpet, there was Diane Keaton. Back in 2004, this kooky actress puzzled the red carpet when she showed up wearing a very dapper menswear suit.
While at the time Keaton made all the worst-dressed lists, over the years, this look has come to become an iconic memory. It proves that women of any age can look hot in suits. Personally, I would!
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#10 Celine Dion[/post_page_title]
Celine Dion's look has since become an iconic look of Oscar ceremonies past. At the time, it was put onto the worst-dressed list. But looking back, it's quite an interesting choice.
Celine Dion definitely proved that she didn't care what others thought about what she was wearing, she just wanted to have fun on the red carpet. And to be honest, it definitely looks like the more comfortable choice as opposed to a big poofy ballgown.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#11 Angelia Jolie[/post_page_title]
An A-list celebrity for a while, Angelia Jolie is no stranger to serving up amazing looks. She has also been somewhat of a sex symbol, so it's not surprising that some of those looks she gives us have a subtle sauciness to them.
And this Academy Awards look from 2012 is no exception. She looks elegant, yet is giving us legs for days. It's an iconic look, and there is no doubt that it is a sexy, dark look that Maleficent would approve of and wear.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#12 Charlize Theron[/post_page_title]
Long before the great debate of blue versus gold dress, there was roses versus cinnamon rolls on Charlize Theron's 2010 Oscar dress. Normally a leading fashionista on whatever red carpet she walks, Theron sort of dropped the ball on this one.
She made the worst-dressed list that year for her dress, but still, it has become somewhat iconic. The color is very pretty on the actress, but the styling was not so good. Especially given that the chest area is covered with weird fabric cinnamon rolls.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#13 Marion Cotillard[/post_page_title]
Back in 2008, Marion Cotillard won for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. She also graced us with this iconic white gown. It's as if a mermaid came out of the sea to walk the red carpet.
With the upcoming live-action remake of Disney's The Little Mermaid, can I please suggest that the costume designers revisit this iconic Oscars look for inspiration? I have no doubt that it's a gown that would look great on Ariel at the end of the film. Just saying.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#14 Halle Berry[/post_page_title]
The 2002 Oscars were a night for firsts. Halle Berry broke ground in being the first African American woman to win the category of Best Actress, earning the accolade for her role in Monster's Ball.
She also stunned on the red carpet. This dress with the burgundy bottom and the lace top with the flowers strategically placed ended up staying with us for years. Truly an iconic piece of couture.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#15 Gwyneth Paltrow[/post_page_title]
She might not have been nominated for anything that year in 2012, but nonetheless, Gwyneth stunned on the red carpet with her Tom Ford capped gown. It was classic and clean lines, yet had an almost masculine and structured look to it.
Can't say that we remembered any other gowns on that red carpet as much as we remembered that one. It was a classic. And the white was so complimentary. Many people underestimate the elegance of white.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#16 Penelope Cruz[/post_page_title]
Cruz wore this peach number to the 79th Annual Academy Awards, and it was incredible. She looked gorgeous. Everything was perfect.
The peach hue was the perfect compliment to her bronze skin, plus her hair and makeup were subtly elegant. Everything about this look gave us life.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#17 Michelle Williams[/post_page_title]
Can anyone forget this look? No, they can't, that is why this look has been so iconic. Michelle Williams wowed the world when she stepped out onto the red carpet with this beautiful saffron yellow gown by Vera Wang.
It was definitely a bold color choice, but the actress pulled it off. It was absolutely fantastic. We will be much more open to this color choice in future thanks to Michelle Williams' perfect execution.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#18 Sharon Stone[/post_page_title]
Oh, the 90s. It was an era of fashion... choices. And nothing highlights this quite like the 1998 Academy Awards when Sharon Stone rocked up wearing a Vera Wang skirt that she paired with a white shirt from the Gap.
The actress's fashion choices from that year have become infamous in the years to come, mostly because it was such a bad idea. The look is a bit sloppy, almost like she was showing up to a fancy event following a one-night stand.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#19 Cate Blanchett[/post_page_title]
Cate showed up to the 88th Academy Awards wearing this blue floral number. The color looked absolutely incredible on the actress.
Cate has always been a stunner on the red carpet. But this look made us all envious that she got to wear that dress and we didn't.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#20 Nicole Kidman[/post_page_title]
A veteran of the red carpet, Nicole Kidman definitely knows how to bring a beautiful look to the red carpet. In 2007, she wowed in a red Balenciaga gown.
There is no denying that the red carpet got upstaged by Kidman that night. What a wonderful red gown.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#21 Salma Hayek[/post_page_title]
The beautiful Mexican actress is always a red carpet favorite. She pulls off outfits that others sometimes can't. And this 2013 Oscars look was simple yet so elegant on her.
And the beehive inspired hairdo definitely helped to pull her hair up so she could show off the incredible gold detailing of her black gown. So pretty!
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#22 Ashley Judd[/post_page_title]
Sometimes simplicity is best. This gown that Ashley Judd wore to the Oscars was simple, yet brought such a wow factor with it.
The color stole the show, and she did right by accessorizing it with simple jewelry and lightly waved hair. It was everything that we wish we could wear to an award show.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#23 Uma Therman[/post_page_title]
When you gotta go to an award show at 7 pm, then pull pints at the renaissance fair at 8 pm. That is what Uma Therman's dress from the 76th Academy Awards in 2004 was conveyed to us. Normally a red carpet crowd-pleaser, Uma's fashion misstep has not been forgotten.
This Christian Lacroix wasn't the best choice for both actress and designer alike. We won't be forgetting the horror of that fashion faux pas any time soon.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#24 Reese Witherspoon[/post_page_title]
America's favorite sweetheart has given us many beautiful red carpet looks over the years. This is one of our favorites, and is a standout in terms of her red carpet fashion. She wore it to the 2011 Oscars.
The simple black gown had clean lines, plus a little hint of white at the top neckline. She gave the look an almost retro, Bridgette Bardot-inspired vibe with her updo. And the emerald earrings were the perfect little pop of color.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#25 Linda Cardellini[/post_page_title]
Clearly, Linda Cardellini took a page out of Miss Vanjie's season 10 playbook. This loofa-inspired gown was way too frilly. To add insult to injury, the color was exactly what many bath product companies use when creating their loofas.
It was definitely not a good choice for the actress. And there is no way that we will be forgetting it any time soon. I mean, if you Google "worst-dressed Oscars all time" this one already pops up. Oops!
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#26 Demi Moore[/post_page_title]
The 80s was another era of fashion... choices. And the 1989 Academy Awards gave us this iconically bad outfit worn by Demi Moore. She is a natural beauty, but even her looks couldn't salvage this spin class inspired outfit that looked like she pinned a curtain to bicycle shorts.
Like other worst-dressed list outfits, this ranks as one of those that will stick with us for years to come. Oh, the horror.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#27 Jennifer Lawrence[/post_page_title]
Perhaps the only thing more iconic than J-Law's fall at the 2013 Oscar's, was her pale pink Dior gown. The feminine gown was absolutely incredible and a total treat for the eyes.
Not only was she a winner on the red carpet, she was also a winner that year as well, bagging her first Oscar at 23 years old. Not a bad way to start your acting career. We've forgotten about her fall up to the stage - well, sort of. But there is no way we are going to be forgetting this classic Dior gown anytime soon.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#28 Gemma Chan[/post_page_title]
Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan arrived in a hot pink tent to the 91st Academy Awards. Some called it fashion, some called it a faux pas. But at least the dress came with pockets.
We call it something that's going to go down in Oscar fashion history. It certainly isn't something that will be forgotten any time soon. Everyone remembers a good fashion debate.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#29 Emma Stone[/post_page_title]
Always an elegant starlet on the red carpet, Emma Stone brought the glamor to the 2012 Oscars red carpet. When an actress or actor chooses to wear red, it's always a bold move.
I mean, the red carpet is called the red carpet because it's red. When not done well, the red carpet wins. When executed beautifully, the red carpet loses. And the red carpet lost to Emma Stone that night. Simply stunning.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]#30 Awkwafina[/post_page_title]
Another star of Crazy Rich Asians is Awkwafina. The same year that Billy Porter took the red carpet by storm also saw Awkwafina play with traditional gender silhouettes. This actress and rapper took a dare and wore a DSquared pantsuit to the awards ceremony occasion.
While many people didn't like it, and she was placed on the worst-dressed list, it was still a bold move to go against what is expected to be worn. Much like Celine Dion and Diane Keaton, this pantsuit won't lightly be forgotten any time soon.
film & tv5 min(s) read
Last night's 93rd Academy Awards saw some of Hollywood's elite recognized with the greatest prize in filmmaking.
With starts like Sir Anthony Hopkins and Daniel Kaluuya scooping the Oscars in the acting categories, and Chloe Zhao becoming the first woman of color and second woman ever to win Best Director, there is no denying that the ceremony celebrated a variety of different people for a variety of different talents.
But enough about acting, talents, and movies - let's talk about clothes.
The Oscars red carpet is always an opportunity for any star to show off their best look of the year, and last night was no exception. Viewers were treated to some jaw-dropping and stunning outfits - and I'm sure we'll all agree that they should start issuing an award for Best Dressed.
Anyways, let's take a look at these award-winning looks. And the nominees are...
1. Halle Berry
Halle Berry looked absolutely sensational showing off her Dolce & Gabbana gown, while also wowing viewers with a gorgeous bob hairdo that frames her face. She looked every bit the superhero she is!
2. Zendaya
Zendaya not only looked incredible in her yellow Valentino gown, but she was also decked out in $6 million worth of Bulgari jewelry. That's how you make a statement on a red carpet.
3. Amanda Seyfried
A real lady in red, Best Supporting Actress nominee Amanda Seyfried looked radiant in her Armani dress.
4. Regina King
Despite going home empty-handed, Regina King looked more of a Queen on the red carpet in her powerful Louis Vuitton gown.
5. Andra Day
Glittered in gold from head to toe, Andra Day may have missed out on Best Actress, but this Vera Wang dress certainly put her in contention for best dressed.
6. Leslie Odom Jr.
There were a lot of sharp suits to choose from on the red carpet last night, but Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr.'s Oscar-like gold Brioni suit looked perfect for the occasion.
7. The cast of Crip Camp
Praised for their representation of diversity, the stars and producers of Crip Camp - which sadly lost out in the Best Documentary category - lit up the red carpet in their respective outfits. After sharing a picture to Twitter from the red carpet, one fan responded: "As a disabled teenager, this is the coolest thing I've ever seen."
8. Carey Mulligan
Carey Mulligan may have missed out on the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Promising Young Woman, but I'm sure being dripped in a metallic Valentino gown helped ease the pain.
9. H.E.R
Nominated for her track 'Fight For You' from Judas And The Black Messiah, H.E.R made sure all eyes were on her in this gorgeous violet Dundas jumpsuit.
10. Alan Kim and Christina Oh
Nine-year-old breakout star Alan Kim and producer Christina Oh both looked effortlessly cool on the red carpet. It was Kim's first-ever Academy Awards (and we're sure it won't be his last), and he made an impact in his adorable Thom Browne shorts suit.
