When you watch TV today, you might think you're living in the 90's. We've seen 'revivals' of a ton of shows - Roseanne, Will & Grace, The X-Files, Full House, Boy Meets World, and they're currently shooting a new season of Murphy Brown. Some people have accused Hollywood of being "out of ideas," but the reboot craze isn't driven by creative bankruptcy. It's driven by executives making safe bets. Old shows are already established in viewers minds, and it's likely they'll watch a revival out of curiosity.
Now Netflix is bringing back Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. The original show starred Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina Spellman, a teenager who discovers she has magic powers on her sixteenth birthday. She lives with her two aunts, who happen to be 500-year-old witches, as well as a talking cat named Salem. The series aired from 1996 to 2003, at which point Melissa Joan Hart was definitely not a teenager. Of course, fans know the show was based on the Archie comic book series of the same name. And given the success of The CW's Riverdale, which is also based on Archie Comics, it's a great time to bring back Sabrina.

The new show is called The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, and is said to be a "dark and intense" reimagining. (I can't wait to see they make a magical talking cat "dark and intense.") According to Variety, Sabrina will be seen "wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the daylight world humans inhabit." The title character will be played by Kiernan Shipka, who you might remember as Sally Draper from Mad Men. A production photo recently leaked, giving viewers their first look at Shipka as Sabrina, and Ross Lynch as her boyfriend, Harvey Winkle.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also created Riverdale, decided to share the photo, since it was already spreading around the Internet. "Well, it's out there," wrote Aguirre-Sacasa. "A 1st look at Harvey and Sabrina from the "Chilling Adventures of #Sabrina." ADORBS, right?"
Many people agreed that the photo was "ADORBS," and said they were excited about new series.

Meanwhile, other people said the photo was definitely not "ADORBS," and refused to accept a remake of their beloved 90's show.

One person pointed out that Nate Richert, who played the original Harvey, has a jacket similar to the new Harvey in the photo. I don't know what this is supposed to prove, but hey, this is what the original Harvey looks like now.

Well, Shipka was great in Mad Men, and people love Riverdale, so the new Sabrina series seems to be in good hands. Now can we have revivals of Friends and Seinfeld?

From 1996 to 2003, Melissa Joan Hart starred as the title character in ABC's hit sitcom Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, based on the Archie comics of the same name. Last year, Netflix released a "dark and intense" reimagining of the series, entitled Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina. Starring Kiernan Shipka from Mad Men, it shows Sabrina '"wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the daylight world humans inhabit," per Variety.
Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina has been a smash hit for Netflix, but the original Sabrina, Melissa Joan Hart, told Insider she's not interested in the watching the scary new reboot. "It's a lot more dark and Satanic and sexy than ours was so it's a very different kind of show," the 42-year-old said, while promoting her partnership with Kelley Blue Book and their list of the best family cars in 2019.
"I think it's geared toward much more millennial and younger generations," she continued. "It's not something I'm going to watch, that I'm interested in watching right now, and it's not something that my kids will watch."
In a promotional video for Netflix released int October 2018, original Sabrina cast members Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina), Nate Richert (Harvey), Caroline Rhea (Hilda) and Beth Broderick reacted to clips from the new Sabrina. Mostly, they comment on the show's scarier content, sexier scenes and improved CGI. "I got to see some of that so I got an idea of it, but I don't think it's really for me," Hart told the news outlet. "It's not really my audience. I watched 'Stranger Things' but that's about the only scary show I'll watch."

The Clarissa Explains It All star is an outspoken Christian and told Fox 411 that it's "scary" to talk about your faith sometimes (although the United States is 70.6% Christian, according to The Pew Research Center).
"These days, it's a talent to be politically correct," Hart said. "I find that as long as I don't care what other people think and I stand by my values, it doesn't matter what other people say. People are going to argue with me no matter if I say something controversial or not. ... As far as my faith, I think it is important to share that those are my values and I'm going to use them to guide me through life and I'm not going to steer away from it, it's part of who I am."

But if you're expecting Hart to make a cameo on Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, don't hold your breath. "[Netflix] would have to ask first, but I don't know," she told Insider. "I don't know who'd I'd play. If I'm not Sabrina, who am I? She's already got her aunts. ... There's a lot of factors involved in that."

Melissa Joan Hart left fans concerned after she posted a disheveled selfie that was worlds away from her usual glamorous self.
The actress, 47, is best known for starring as Sabrina Spellman in Sabrina the Teenage Witch from 1996 until 2003, and as the titular character on Clarissa Explains It All from 1991 until 1994.
And while fans are used to seeing her looking immaculately groomed and put together, one of her recent selfies was anything but that.
The actress shared a photo of her looking wild-eyed, with mascara smeared underneath them, and her hair appeared to be messy as she captioned the snap: "Felt cute... might delete later!"
Fans were quick to share their thoughts, writing: "Why u look sooooooo CRAAAAZY CUZ????" and: "You ok? You look like you should be in front of the camera as a madwoman."
One asked: "Are you auditioning for a new Fright Night movie?", while someone else commented: "DA F**K HAPPENED TO HER?"
Others complimented her regardless of the bizarre look, writing: "Even when you look not your best your still beautiful", and: "A little crazed, but still very cute!"
Some joked: "Was it a good night out", "Clarissa explains adulthood" and: "clarrisa explain this."
Thankfully, Melissa explained that the selfie was from the set of Lifetime's The Bad Guardian, and she wasn't just having a particularly bad day.
Melissa is currently starring in The Bad Guardian, a fictional movie about a woman put under forced guardianship by the courts.
The plot was inspired by Britney Spears' real-life conservatorship, which the star was under for over 13 years after her public breakdown in 2007.
Melissa plays Leigh, a woman fighting to release her dad from the control of an evil guardian, played by La La Anthony.
It is her latest true crime role after she played a grandmother in the 2023 movie Would You Kill For Me? The Mary Bailey Story.
The casting left many Sabrina fans shaken that the 47-year-old would be cast as a grandmother, having grown up watching the iconic show.
And while fans may have been hoping to see Sabrina reunite on-screen with her Aunt Hilda and Aunt Zelda - played by Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick - the actress tragically shut down the chance of them ever bringing the show back.
She told E! News: "As much as I had a blast on the show, I think [a reboot] would be over-critiqued.
"I’ve never really wanted to go back to Sabrina. I just don’t think it would be as great as the original. I just don’t think there is any way. People are nostalgic for what they had.
"Trying to recreate that can be really difficult, as we’ve seen."

Melissa Joan Hart has revealed the item that she stole from the 'Sabrina The Teenage Witch' set - and let's just say, we did not see this one coming.
It's now been twenty years since the iconic TV show about a teenager who discovers that she is a witch on her 16th birthday aired its last episode, but that doesn't mean Hart has forgotten about it.
In fact, she's holding onto a few of her favorite things that she took from the set while filming the show.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, the now 48-year-old opened up about the keepsakes she cherishes from her time as a teenage witch.
“I do have some candlestick holders,” she said. “In my pantry, I have some Italian pottery things that hung on the wall.”
But there's one particular thing that stands out from the rest - a piece of her face.
“I have a piece of my face from the episode where I fell apart, which I think was called 'Falling to Pieces' or something about pieces of Sabrina,” she recalls, likely referencing the season 6 finale episode titled 'I Fall to Pieces,' which ends in Sabrina being turned to stone and crumbling.
This tradition has been ongoing since the first episode she ever directed when she nabbed a propeller from an airplane.
“It was supposed to break off in the scene, and the whole crew signed it for me,” she told the outlet, adding that it now sits on a bookshelf in her home.
Hart played Sabrina for a total of seven seasons before the show came to an end in 2003.
After playing such a nuanced character, she stated that she understood why people related to Sabrina so much, but she had a hard time finding that connection herself.
“Not only was she younger than me, she didn't want attention,” Hart explains, noting that she was 20 but playing a teenager at the time. “She wanted to be the wallflower. She didn't know what to do with these magical abilities. She felt very lost, and other people were trying to help her solve it."
The star went on to state that without the exciting circumstances that arose because of the storylines, she wouldn't have been able to portray the character properly or enjoy herself on set.
“If she wasn't always in different costumes and kind of getting put in these weird situations where I got to be Cinderella or Alice Wonderland or a trapeze artist or in Cirque du Soleil or whatever I don't know if I would've enjoyed the experience as much as I did because I just didn't identify with her very well.”
Elsewhere, the 48-year-old also opened up about what her life looks like now that she's put her acting career in the backseat.
Hart spends a big chunk of her time doing charity work with World Vision, who aid poverty-stricken areas of the world, alongside raising her three sons whom she shares with her husband of 20 years, Mark Wilkerson.
“I'm the oldest of eight kids, so I've always felt a certain responsibility towards a younger generation of people looking up to you,” she said, talking about what inspires her to give back to the world. “And then being a mom is similar in a way to me and my relationship with my sisters and my brother.
"But I've always just sort of felt like we have a responsibility to take care of others," she added.
