A woman was left devastated after American Airlines managed to lose her two cats on a recent flight from Los Angeles to New York City.
In a video shared to TikTok on Sunday, July 31, Ariel Dale stated that the airline had misplaced her beloved pets Stevie Nicks and Mr. Tumnus, during a cross-country flight.
"This is actually my worst nightmare. They’ve already been in the kennel for over 14 hours bcuz their flight was canceled," she captioned her heartbreaking video.
The footage shows her shaking her head in despair while Elton John's song 'I Think I'm Going To Kill Myself' plays in the background.
A number of TikTok users clearly empathized with her plight, and the brief clip has now racked up over 4.8 million views and 658,000 reactions, at the time of writing.
Dale later took to the comments to thank the commenters for their support, adding: "Hours later and I am FINALLY home with the cats. They offered no explanation for why no one knew where they were. Will upload full story tomorrow. [sic]"
In a follow-up post, she explained that she chose not to bring them on a commercial flight with other passengers because the two rescue cats can become acutely anxious around strangers.
She continued that when she arrived in LA, American Airlines gave her the wrong drop-off location for her cats, causing her to almost miss her flight.
After boarding, she received a text that her cats' flight had been delayed, and then another saying it was canceled. They were eventually booked for another flight, but then this rescheduled flight was also delayed as well.
After she landed in New York, she managed to contact an American Airlines spokesperson who assured her that her cats were safe and well.
But when she arrived a the terminal, it took an American Airlines staffer two hours trying to find the animals, and another hour passed before she was reunited with them.
In a later interview with Insider, Dale stated:
"When the American Airlines worker told me they didn't have my cats and didn't know where they were, I panicked, and my heart dropped to my stomach. I immediately fell to the floor and started crying."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for American Airlines has since commented on the incident, telling the above publication: "Caring for our animal travelers and ensuring they have a smooth and safe travel experience is always a top priority for us.
"We never like when travel plans are disrupted and are sorry for any inconvenience. Our team was in regular contact with Ariel throughout her pets' journey and she has been reunited with her furry companions since then."

A witness has come forward to reveal what went down when a passenger frantically demanded to get off a plane after seeing an "imaginary person".
A viral TikTok video - which has now been now-deleted - shows a seemingly distressed woman onboard an American Airlines flight departing from Dallas Fort Worth airport.
The passenger appeared irate and was demanding to be let off the plane, despite the crew closing the doors. She then said something that left her fellow fliers very alarmed.
"I'm telling you, I'm getting the f*** off and there's a reason why I'm getting the f*** off and everyone can either believe it or they can not believe it," the woman is heard saying as she walks to the front of the plane.
Watch the incident below:At one point in the startling footage, the woman is seen ominously pointing toward the back of the plane and screaming: "You can sit on this plane and you can die with them or not. I’m not going to."
According to The Mirror, the incident caused a three-hour delay for the other passengers, and the airline reportedly had everyone de-board and then re-board hours later so that officials could deal with the upset customer.
While many people on the internet have questions regarding the situation, a comedian named Carrot Top took to their Instagram page to detail their first-person account of the clip.
He filmed his response from Orlando, Florida, after the flight was stalled in Dallas, Texas.
The witness - whose real name is Scott Thompson - started off by expressing gratitude to the plane staff, saying: "I give my hat off to everyone at American Airlines today for how they handled the situation with that f***ing nut job who just lost her mind in front of the whole plane."
The comic addressed the woman at the center of the controversy: "I hope you're having a relaxing evening behind bars in Dallas, Texas. Hope you enjoyed your little stunt. It reminds me of the Eddie Murphy movie where he walks in and says 'Where is the man who wrecked the buffet?!'"
Carrot Top then concluded his video message by admitting he'd missed most of the Fourth of July festivities, adding: "I missed the fireworks and everything!"
In the caption for his video, the prop comic wrote: "Well.. finally home in bed .. hats off to @americanair. how they handled this situation tonight. It’s really is maddening how 1 nut job can ruin everyone’s plan. Well made it home safe! I guess that’s all that matters. Nite."
While the reason for the passenger's behavior has not been revealed, Carrot Top branded it as a "stunt".

Many were saddened to hear the shocking story of Kokito, the French bulldog that died on a United Airlines flight this week. Catalina Robledo, her baby, and her 11-year-old daughter Sophia were traveling from Houston to New York along with their 10-month-old puppy on board when the incident occurred.
According to statements given by witnesses, a flight attendant ordered the family to place their dog, which was in an airline-approved carrier, into the overhead compartment. Despite the family's protestations, they were told that those were the rules and left the dog in the compartment. The dog was reportedly barking for two hours of the three-and-a-half hour flight, but upon landing, they discovered that he was dead.

Speaking to CBS, Sophia said:
"He was a really special dog. It's just sad the way he has to, just leave. [We said] 'It's a dog, it's a dog. He can't breathe up there'. And she said, 'It doesn't matter, it still goes up there... She felt the dog and she put him up there."
They both wanted to check on him but couldn't during the flight as they were forced to remain seated for much of the journey, and by the time they could check it was too late. "We tried, but there was a lot of turbulence and we weren't allowed to stand up," Sophia explained. "My mom was crying, she was just screaming, she was looking at him."
After the incident, the flight attendant claimed she didn't know the dog was inside. But other witnesses have said that the family told them directly, as well as showing their sympathies for what happened.

Passenger Maggie Gremminger saw the incident unfold and described it over Twitter:
"I want to help this woman and her daughter. They lost their dog because of a United flight attendant. My heart is broken." She also tweeted: "It was clearly a dog and while the customer was adamant about leaving it under the seat, the attendant pushed her to do so."
On Facebook, another passenger, June Lara, wrote that "he was meant to grow, learn, cry, play with those young children and be their furry friend," but instead the flight attendants "felt that the innocent animal was better off crammed inside the overhead container without air and water".

They then described how Catalina was convinced the dog should be okay, and how she eventually attempted to resuscitate her pet:
"They INSISTED that the puppy be locked up for three hours without any kind of airflow. They assured the safety of the family’s pet so wearily, the mother agreed.
"I held her baby as the mother attempted to resuscitate their 10-month-old puppy. I cried with them three minutes later as she sobbed over his lifeless body. My heart broke with theirs as I realized he was gone."

United Airlines' policy is that the carrier must be placed under the seat, and has backed up claims that the flight attendant believed the carrier was empty and must have misheard the family. In response, they took "full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences".
To prevent this from happening again, by April they are planning to issue bright colored bag tags to customers traveling with in-cabin pets to help flight attendants identify pets in-cabin.

A Southwest Airlines passenger has gone viral after sharing a video showing how members of their cabin crew were handling a "four-hour delay".
Boutique shop owner Summer Lowe (@shawty.got.lowe) recently went viral on TikTok after sharing a 26-second clip of how one Southwest Airlines flight attendant was keeping the passengers entertained amid a four-hour delay.
In overlay text on the video, Lowe wrote: "[I] can't make this up. this is our flight right now after being delayed for 4 hours". She added in the post's caption: "It’s a BOOKED flight too".
The video shows Lowe and her partner struggling to hold it together as one flight attendant can be heard channeling her inner Mariah Carey and belting out an OTT rendition of the popular children's song, 'If You're Happy And You Know It'.
As Lowe said - you can't make this stuff up.
You can check out the amusing clip in the post below:I won't lie - this is my idea of an absolute nightmare and I certainly would not be clapping my hands.
The choice of song, the number of people actually clapping along, the unnecessarily long note held at the end - it's all a perfect recipe for me forcing that emergency exit open.
Lowe's video went on to amass a whopping 795,000 views and was even featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
However, the comments were divided between people who think the singing is very "wrong time, wrong place" and those who are genuinely impressed by the airline employee's vocal performance.
"That would of been my breaking point," commented one TikTok user.
"I would have been arrested and sitting in Club Fed awaiting my federal criminal charges because that would have sent me over the edge," wrote a third.
Then, in a more positive view of the story, one person commented: "Southwest Airlines flight attendants are BUILT DIFFERENT. I love that airline so much lmao."
"This is great customer service," added another TikToker.
"She just trying her best to make the situation a little better not just for you but for herself," commented another.
So, what are your thoughts on Lowe's experience? Would you have been clapping along? Or would you have been put on the no-fly list? Let us know in the comments.

A woman has gone viral on social media after revealing that she flew cross-country to meet a date, only for him to ditch her when she took a nap in their hotel room.
Samantha - who goes by the handle @SamanthaMarie on the video sharing app - said she booked the flight to meet her date who she only knew through a mutual friend.
The first night she met him, they stayed at his hometown house, before heading to a hotel and grabbing brunch on the second day.
In the overlay text of the video, Samantha wrote: "I flew across the country to meet a date – when I woke up from a nap he was gone along with all of his stuff," and panned over to the empty side of the bed.
Watch Samantha's TikTok below:The TikToker then shared the string of text messages she sent to him after he left her. In the first text, she wrote: "This is so f***ed up," followed by, "You could’ve done this earlier so I coulda changed my flight wtffff."
Several hours later at 10:13PM, she sent him a text, writing: "I'm so confused right now," and then sent another message asking him "explain" why he left her so abruptly.
She then wrote in what was her final message to him: "Like I'm in a city I've literally never been to and I bought my flight here and you just leave and stop responding to me???"
As of this writing, the video garnered 1.8 million views, and 209.3K likes on the social media platform, with many users commenting on the wild situation.
One user wrote: "WHYYY do men do this someone explain."
Another user commented: "Who raises people like this?! my sons better nevvver!"
A third user shared: "I’ve had this exact thing happen to me…. Super traumatizing. I’m so sorry!"
A fourth user offered a helping hand and said: "Are u safe do u need help or money or a friend wherever you are!?!!!!"
In a follow-up video, Samantha explained in further detail what happened. She said that after they arrived at the hotel room, she decided to take a nap, and her date went into the bathroom.
About 30 minutes later, when she woke up, she realized her date's items such as his duffel bag was gone, along with the bottle of vodka she had bought for them.
Samantha said right after, she started "blowing up his phone" but he didn't answer, so she told their mutual friend about the situation.
Her friend then called her date and he answered after a couple of rings but after he realized who he was speaking to, he hung up. The friend said she could hear loud music in the background.
Samantha's date finally texted her back and revealed that he had a family emergency, but that was still strange to her because he took her vodka.
Nevertheless, she concluded by saying: "Long story short, he never texted me back...I'm so confused but I'm about to go Uber to the airport and fly home so that's the highlight of my weekend."
