Ellen DeGeneres has been in hot water since a number of allegations were made about the mistreatment of staff on The Ellen Show.

These allegations prompted a public apology from the host, in which she vowed to do better in the future.

However, this hasn't stopped continued allegations about the toxic environment emerging, including a video of Ellen mocking Sofia Vergara's English.

Now, it has been claimed that a recent robbery of Ellen's home was an "inside job".

According to information obtained by The Sun, the robbery which took place at her $27 million home in Montecito, California, last month was targetted because of its "celebrity status."

Following this revelation, the neighborhood association issued a newsletter assuring other high profile residents in the area - including Prince Harry and Ariana Grande - that their homes were not at risk of being targetted too.

"If it had been a case of outsiders coming in and breaking and entering, I'd have alerted you to be on the lookout and lock up everything," the newsletter read. "According to our very helpful Sheriff Lt. Arnoldi, that appears to be an inside job."

DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi were not at home during the robbery, which saw a number of expensive watches and jewelry stolen, Page Six reports.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.

However, despite the controversy surrounding Ellen's life at the present time, De Rossi said that she is "doing great".

This revelation was made while De Rossi was walking with her mom and their dogs in Santa Barbara, Page Six reports, despite the Arrested Development actress attempting to conceal her identity.

Photographers also asked her if Ellen would be returning to the show and she simply replied: "Yes, she is."
