Caitlyn Jenner has addressed those who compare her involvement in a fatal car accident to the alleged crimes of O.J. Simpson.

Orenthal James Simpson, also known as "The Juice," is a controversial NFL star turned murder suspect who was acquitted of the brutal killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman.

On Thursday (April 11), the former footballer's family took to X (formerly known as Twitter), to issue a statement that revealed that Simpson had died at the age of 76, following a battle with cancer.

"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer," they wrote. "He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace."

Simpson was one of the most famous football players of his day. He won the Heisman Trophy while at USC, then played successfully for the San Francisco 49ers and the Buffalo Bills.

The late star then became a renowned celebrity, featuring as a sportscaster, a movie and television actor, and a corporate spokesman, most notably for Hertz rental cars.

However, all that changed in 1994 when the former athlete's ex-wife and friend were brutally stabbed to death outside of the former's home. Within days, police announced their intention to arrest Simpson for their murders.

Following Simpson's death, Caitlyn Jenner - whose ex-wife Kris Jenner was previously married to Simpson's attorney and friend Robert Kardashian - took to X (formerly Twitter) where she penned: "Good Riddance #OJSimpson."

After the post was shared, many users flooded the post and pointed out how the 74-year-old had been involved in a car accident in 2015, in which a 69-year-old woman named Kim Howe tragically died.

No charges were ever filed against Jenner.

One user fired back at Jenner's post, writing: "Rest in peace to Kim Howe, the woman killed in a multi-car crash caused by Caitlyn Jenner." Another chimed in: "You should NOT be talking," while a third shared: "Nuh uh girl, don’t think you’re in the clear too."

But in response, Jenner said: "I know you all think it’s cute to compare a fatal car accident (with multiple vehicles involved) to a BRUTAL MURDER…But Remember…OJ said something to the effect of…I could kill her (Nicole) and get away with it bc I’m #OJSimpson."

Jenner's ex-wife was friends with Nicole Brown Simpson and had already divorced late lawyer Rob Kardashian when the murders occurred.

During a 2009 episode of Dr. Phil, the Olympic gold medalist recalled how the Kardashian kids reacted after the verdict was announced. "I remember the day the verdict came through and [the kids] came in and they said, 'I told you he didn't do it,'" she said at the time.

"We sat down and I said, 'Look, just because he got a not guilty verdict doesn't mean he didn't do it, and I just don't want to hear his name anymore.' And I had a lot of conversations with Robert to try to make sure it didn't tear the family apart," she added.
