Adam Sandler is setting the record straight after a bizarre TikTok story about him and his daughter Sadie began making the rounds online.
The 59-year-old actor spoke to PEOPLE earlier this week while attending the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where he was being honored with the Maltin Modern Master Award.
During the conversation, Sandler took a moment to call out what he described as a completely fabricated viral clip circulating on social media.
Calling it a 'dumb thing,' the comedian said he had not only heard about the video but also watched it himself — and couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
"By the way, there's something on the internet talking about that dumb thing. I've been hearing about this thing and I saw it, and it's just insane," he said.
The $312,000 Shopping Spree That Never Happened
The TikTok video in question, which has since been taken down, allegedly claims that Sandler was discussing an incident at a luxury retail store in Beverly Hills.
According to the viral narrative, a store employee told his daughter Sadie that she 'wasn't allowed to touch' certain items in the shop.
The story goes on to suggest that, offended by the staff member’s behavior, Sandler responded by purchasing $312,000 (£229,000) worth of handbags from the store.
But according to the actor himself, none of that ever happened.
"It's just this made-up, weird thing that people ask me about," Sandler said.
"And I'm just like, 'I've never heard of this in my life.' That story was 100 percent insane and made-up, and not a word of it is true.
"That was one of the weirdest, dumbest, 100% made up things. It was very odd. I don't know how that happens."
The In-N-Out Burger Story That Is True
While the Beverly Hills retail tale has been debunked, Sandler did admit that another headline about him actually checks out.
He referenced a New York Post report that claimed he ordered 'a bunch of Double-Doubles' from In-N-Out Burger late one evening.
Unlike the TikTok rumor, this one, he confirmed, is accurate.
He said: "I have to say, that story is true. So that one's true. The other one's pathetic."
Sandler had been spotted casually dressed in shorts and a hoodie while picking up his order, drawing plenty of curious glances from fellow diners at the fast-food chain.
Adam Sandler Reflects on the Road Not Taken
Back in January, while appearing at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Sandler reflected on what his life might have looked like had he not pursued acting.
Instead, he considered what could have happened if he had accepted his father’s offer to work alongside him as an electrical engineer.
"I sometimes think about it, [if] I didn't click that year and I did go work for my dad, what my life would be right now," he said.
"First off, I'm thinking I'd probably still be married to my wife, Jackie. That's destiny. Nothing stops that.
"But we definitely [would] have a different house. Probably, like, 10 less bathrooms and [fewer] statues of me."
Sandler shares daughters Sadie, 19, and Sunny, 17, with his wife Jackie Sandler.
