Legendary comedy actor Adam Sandler officiated the highly anticipated wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce this weekend with a hilarious service and advice that had the 1,000 guests in stitches.
The tips for keeping the spark alive that Sandler shared at the ceremony at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, were even praised by the Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.
The 50 First Dates star, 59, told the star-studded crowd that the secret to a long and happy marriage was to “keep kissing”.
At an event in Salt Lake City on Sunday, July 5, Kelce’s coach Reid, 68, told The Deseret News that Sandler “did a great job” of marrying the couple “with a lot of humor.”
He added that the actor is “crazy” but was “phenomenal” during the ceremony.
Offering an insight into the super secret event, Reid also said: “Adam Sandler conducted the service there, and he told me, ‘Keep kissing.’ In its simplest form. That’s a good thing.”
The head coach agreed with the advice Sandler gave the lovebirds, telling the reporter: “It’s hard to argue when you give your wife a kiss or your wife gives you a kiss… And make sure you do it every day, every minute that you have an opportunity to. Knock it out, and you won’t have any problems.”
Proving that the guidance works, Reid’s wife of 45 years, Tammy, quipped: “He does that.”
The advice has clearly been tried and tested by Sandler himself, as he has been married to his wife, Jackie, 51, since 2003, and they have two daughters together, Sadie, 20, and Sunny, 17.
Sandler has known the couple for a few years and has publicly sung their praises many times. In July last year, he told Extra that he and his daughters “love Taylor” and are big fans of her music.
Just a few weeks later, he told Entertainment Tonight that the popstar’s NFL star husband, who features briefly in Happy Gilmore 2, is a “stud” but also a “great actor and a great human being.”
He told the celebrity news outlet: "Travis is such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell. He’s like the guys I grew up with.”
“When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say."
Swift and Kelce married on Friday in an exclusive, huge star-studded event at Madison Square Garden after getting engaged last summer following three years of dating.
Fans have been not-so-patiently waiting to see inside the ceremony, as official pictures of the wedding have still not been released and rumours have shrouded every detail online.
