Amy Schumer has celebrated her "40 extra lbs" by posting an Instagram story in her underwear, claiming that she has "still got it".
In the candid snapshot, Schumer, 42, sported a makeup-free face, with a big smile. She captioned the image with self-assurance, stating: "Still got it," and acknowledging that by 'it', she was referring to a weight gain of "40 extra lbs [18kg]".
Given her body language in the image, Schumer is confident in herself as she threw her arm up in excitement in the joyful photo.
The snapshot was taken in Schumer's bathroom, featuring a glass shower, a freestanding bathtub, a towel-warming rack, and green leaf-patterned wallpaper. The countertop displayed various toiletries, including Cetaphil face wash and skincare products.
In October last year, Schumer posted photos from the Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne in 2012, contrasting her smiling and carefree appearance at the age of 31 with a more disheveled hospital snapshot from a recent period.
In her Instagram caption, Schumer cautioned her followers, stating: "Warning 20 somethings, I looked like this at your age. Swipe. Life is coming for you." Despite mentioning being in her twenties in the photo, Schumer was actually 31 during the Comedy Central Roast.
Reiterating her message on her Instagram story, Schumer shared the same images with a note that read: "Girls in your 20s guess what? I looked like you too. Life is coming for you b***hes."
Several celebrities, including Michelle Visage, Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Camila Morrone, engaged with the post through comments and emojis, showcasing camaraderie in the shared experience of aging.
Fans also praised Schumer's unfiltered portrayal of life, clearly relating to the image. One fan remarked: "I saw a picture of myself from 2005 the other day, and I haven’t fully recovered, life comes at ya fast."
Others shared similar sentiments, with one warning about the sudden onset of change and another commenting: "Just wait until menopause. That's a fun one."
In November, Schumer claimed that she is the "most successful female comedian of all time" which sparked a wave of backlash.
Known for her candid presence online, she found herself in the midst of controversy after commenting on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Taking to her Instagram account, Schumer addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding her remarks on the conflict after expressing support for the Jewish community while condemning Hamas. However, her stance has sparked debate due to the contentious history between Israel and Palestine.
In an effort to clarify her position, Schumer emphasized her desire for "peace" and the return of "every hostage," expressing a wish for "safety and freedom from Hamas for Palestinians and Israelis." She made it clear that her intention was not to wish harm upon anyone and called for safety for both Jewish and Muslim communities.
Responding to accusations of Islamophobia and support for genocide, Schumer labeled such claims as "crazy" and enabled comments on her post, urging followers to consider her perspective. Addressing critics who accused her of making the conflict about herself, Schumer defended her background, stating she is "self-made" and refuted allegations she had stolen jokes.
In a bold statement, Schumer asserted her position as the "most successful female comedian of all time," defending her career and addressing personal criticisms.
The Instagram post has since been removed.
