Amy Schumer has opened up about the 'nightmare' side-effects of Ozempic after trying the GLP-1 injections for weight loss.
The comedian and actress, 45, recently posted a series of bikini photos on Instagram, revealing her weight loss after undergoing a body transformation, captioned: "I never knew there would be days like this. No filter as per ushe."
Her post was quickly flooded with support from friends and fans, with actress Kate Walsh commenting: "So beautiful, Amy. Happy and thriving."
Schumer has been open about her weight-loss journey over the past couple of years, revealing that she'd tried various GLP-1 injections - some of which came with very uncomfortable side-effects.
In March 2025, she uploaded a video addressing her experience with the medication Mounjaro and detailing her past struggles with other injectables, explaining: "I wanted to share and keep it 100 with you, that years ago - and yes, this is completely unsafe to be driving and making a video - years ago, three years ago, I tried Wegovy and I was like puking.
"I couldn't handle it. I don't know if they've changed the formula or whatever… but anyway, I went on this telehealth meeting with MidiHealth, and it was cheap. I wanted to try it myself, cause I wanted to recommend it to my friends who are like nurses and teachers."
In addition to navigating these treatments, she addressed her perimenopause symptoms by starting a new hormone routine, adding: "They put me on estrogen and progesterone because I realized I was in perimenopause and my symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared."
She also revealed during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show that her genetic makeup caused severe reactions to some of the most well-known GLP-1 injections.
"I have this gene - GDF15 - which makes you extremely prone to nausea, which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy," she explained. "So, I tried Ozempic almost three years ago and I was like bedridden, I was vomiting, and then you have no energy but other people take it, and they're all good."
She admitted that the physical changes brought about by the jabs were not enough to outweigh the negatives, adding: "I lost 30 pounds so quick. I looked great, and I couldn't lift my head off the pillow, so what's the point?"
Schumer revealed that the one that worked the best for her was Mounjaro, explaining: "Mounjaro's been great.
"Look, it's not covered by insurance unless you have diabetes or severe obesity, which most of the internet thinks I have, but I'm having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that."
A few weeks later, she added in an update: "I'm loving being on Mounjaro and I haven't found that it's affected anything."
