Angus Cloud's mom has revealed what her son said before his tragic passing in July earlier this year.
The heartbreaking news broke on July 31 when it was reported that Conor Angus Cloud Hickey, affectionately known as Angus Cloud, was discovered unresponsive at his family's residence in Oakland, California, aged just 25.
The grief-stricken family issued a statement at the time, shedding light on his recent personal struggles.
"Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend," they wrote, also acknowledging that the late star "was open about his battle with mental health."
Recently, a report from TMZ unveiled the cause of Angus's untimely passing, confirming it as a fatal overdose stemming from a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and other substances. Authorities have ruled his passing as an accidental overdose.
Lisa Cloud, Angus's mother, has since shared her feelings about the profound loss of her son with PEOPLE, including the last words that he said to her.
Angus appeared to be in good spirits the night before he died, as Lisa recalled him saying: "I love you, mama. You're the best, I'll see you in the morning."
The following morning, on July 31, Lisa found Angus slumped over his desk. Initially, she didn't suspect anything amiss, as he often fell asleep in that position. However, as she approached him to greet him, she immediately sensed something gravely wrong.
"I started shaking him and screaming. I pushed him hard, and he fell on the floor. I tried to resuscitate him - mouth to mouth - and I was compressing him," Lisa recounted. "I was screaming for my neighbor because I didn't want to leave him and call 911, and I just kept at it until they took him away.
"I miss him so much," Lisa continued: "He was the love of my life."
Angus had been mourning the loss of his father, Conor Hickey, who passed away on May 18, 2023, at the age of 65, just three months after being diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer caused by asbestos exposure.
A week before the actor's own passing, he and his twin sisters found solace in Ireland while spreading their father's ashes, although it was an emotionally taxing experience.
Lisa firmly believes that her son didn't intend to end his life. She explained: "It was predominantly the central nervous system depressants.
"It started to slow his heart and slow his breathing. He got tired from a lack of oxygen. Everything just slowed down, and eventually, his heart stopped, and he went to sleep," she continued. "But he didn't kill himself."
The night before his untimely passing, Angus was in "decent spirits," spending time with his uncle and friend Daniel Aguilera, painting and creating art together for hours.
Despite her grief, Lisa finds solace in the overwhelming support from Angus's devoted fans.
"He went out at his total power, his total beauty, his total influence, and the reaction that everyone has had is very moving to me," she reflected. "You know, he's not just an actor who overdosed. He was a beautiful soul, and that's why people miss him so much.
"I always knew he was special, and I'm so glad the world also found out he was special," she concluded. "My son will always shine bright."
