Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline has sent a message to his former flame amid her divorce from Sam Asghari.

Asghari, Spears' personal trainer-turned-husband, filed for divorce from the 'Toxic' superstar this week.

The pair separated after just a little over a year of tying the knot. The reason Asghari put forward for the split is the all-too-familiar "irreconcilable differences".

But, here's where things get spicy: whispers of infidelity have started circling the couple.

"It's only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce," an insider had confidently shared with TMZ, almost hinting at the imminent split.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Wednesday (August 16) saw Asghari putting pen to paper, officially kickstarting the divorce proceedings.

Now, Kevin Federline - the 45-year-old ex-dancer who once graced stages with some of the biggest names in pop - has broken his silence on the breakup.

Federline, speaking through his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, offered up a heartfelt statement to ET.

"He wishes them both the best," Kaplan said.  Diving deeper into Federline's perspective on the situation, he went on to say, "If they reconcile, great, but hopefully it won't be a factor that makes her feel more alienated than she might otherwise be if she was still in an intact marriage."

Ensuring clarity on Federline's stance, Kaplan shared, "He wishes her the best and hopes that things work out for her for the best," on behalf of his client.

For those keen to know Federline's advice for Spears at this time, Kaplan didn't hold back, relaying his client's encouraging words: "Be strong, be focused, and get good advice from those around you before making important decisions."

The plot has certainly thickened in the days since news of the breakup broke. A source to Page Six has since accused Asghari of threatening his famous ex.

The 29-year-old allegedly wants to renegotiate their prenup in return for keeping the singer's "secrets."

The source said: "[He is] attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid."

"So that’s what Sam is focused on," they added.

These claims are a far cry from the early days of their romance.

From their mesmerizing first meeting on the set of the 'Slumber Party' music video in 2016 to a fairy tale-like wedding in 2022, Spears and Asghari have been the talk of Hollywood romance columns.

The iconic 'Baby One More Time' songstress didn't make it official until a year after rumors started circulating, but once she did, fans couldn't get enough of their love story.

Fast forward to June 2022, the couple sealed their affectionate journey by saying "I do" in a dreamy Californian ceremony.
