One A-list celebrity guest made a subtle appearance during Bad Bunny's halftime show, but barely anyone noticed.
The 31-year-old superstar's unforgettable performance on February 8 drew attention from millions around the world.
With high-profile guest appearances from Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Cardi B, the show seamlessly blended Puerto Rican culture with a powerful message of unity.
But while most eyes were on the headline performers, one special guest slipped under the radar: actor Pedro Pascal.
Pedro Pascal's Surprise Appearance
The 50-year-old beloved actor, known for The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, appeared in the background during Bad Bunny’s performance.
He was dressed in a sharp white suit and danced alongside rapper Cardi B, singer Karol G, and other stars, including Jessica Alba.
Though many viewers were distracted by the grandeur of Bad Bunny's performance and the star-studded guests like the 'Bad Romance' songstress, those who did spot Pascal on stage were thrilled by the surprise.
"Watching the halftime show and seeing the Chilean king himself Pedro Pascal," one user said, while another added: "That was an amazing halftime show!! Bad Bunny killed it!! Loved the special performances by Lady Gaga & Ricky Martin! Loved the special appearances by Jessica Alba, Cardi B & Pedro Pascal!!"
Bad Bunny's Powerful Message and Reactions
The Grammy-winning star's performance delivered a potent message of cultural pride.
He opened with “Tití Me Preguntó,” and walked through scenes of Puerto Rican life, from nail salons to domino games. This was then followed by a rooftop wedding, with Gaga belting a salsa-inflected version of 'Die With a Smile'.
The icon, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, then closed the show by proclaiming “God Bless America,” naming every country in the Americas - including his native country of Puerto Rico - while a message behind him read: “Lo único más poderoso que el odio es el amor” (“The only thing more powerful than hate is love”).
While many fans praised the halftime show for its cultural significance, the performance drew criticism from many people, including President Donald Trump, who called it “absolutely terrible” and a “slap in the face to our country.”
However, California Governor Gavin Newsom, who had previously declared February 8 “National Bad Bunny Day” in California, called the performance "America, the beautiful."
Former The View co-host Meghan McCain also showed her support for Latin artist, writing: “I’m sorry, but I just genuinely question your taste level if you didn’t enjoy the Bad Bunny halftime show," per The Guardian.
Country artist Kacey Musgraves also said the halftime show made her "feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done," while rapper Doechii added: “Bad Bunny WOW ! F***ing, WOW . History.”
