Last night, film and television fans were treated to the 77th Golden Globe Awards, hosted by none other than professional wind up merchant Ricky Gervais.
The star-studded ceremony, which honors excellence in the film industry in the previous year, saw Brad Pitt, Taron Egerton, Awkwafina Renée Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix, Olivia Colman, Laura Dern, and Brian Cox walk away with their very own golden statuettes.

As per usual, there were plenty of awkward moments (did you see how Beyoncé remained seated while everyone in the room gave Joaquin Phoenix a standing ovation?!), funny moments, profound moments, bizarre moments and heartwarming moments

And then there were moments which weren't seen in the live recording of the show - such as Chris Evans being a total superhero (no pun intended) and helping his The Avengers co-star Scarlett Johansson with her dress.
As you will have seen - providing you watched the ceremony - Johansson wore a beautiful red Vera Wang dress with a long train but had a little trouble moving in it. Luckily, though, Evans was there to save the day.
A THR reporter by the name of Scott Feinberg captured the off-camera moment in which Chris Evans is seen helping Johansson with her train so she can move aside as Taron Egerton comes up to accept his Best Actor gong. Johansson can then be seen responding to the gesture by giving her longtime friend a quick hug.
Feinberg tweeted alongside the clip: "The most significant Golden Globe win of the night so far: Taron Egerton beats Leo and Eddie, may well be on his way to an Oscar nom!"
And fans couldn't help but praise the Captain America star for being such a gentleman:
The 77th Golden Globes Awards were held in Los Angeles last night, and as per usual, there were plenty of highlights - some expected, some not so expected.

The awards ceremony, which recognizes both stars of the big and small screen, saw Joaquin Phoenix win Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, an achievement which surprised no one given the acclaim he received for the role when Joker was released in October last year.
As to be expected, when Glenn Close, who presented the award, announced the win, everyone in the room immediately leaped out of their seats to give Phoenix the standing ovation he deserves. That is, everyone except Ms. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.
"God the worshiping of Beyonce is so pathetic, she can sing and is an OK dancer," one person argued. "Her music is shallow as is she. J Phoenix is miles more intelligent, not self-absorbed and an incredible actor."
"Just putting it out there," one viewer suggested. "MAYBE Beyoncé didn’t stand during Joaquin Phoenix’s standing ovation because her dress was massive & would have been a pain to get out of her chair with and then gather it to sit down again. Just a thought. Maybe it wasn’t a statement."
Last night's Golden Globes has plenty of memorable moments that we're going to be talking about and YouTubing for years to come.
Tom Hanks was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, Ricky Gervais' opening monologue was his most savage one yet, and Joaquin Phoenix's incredible performance in Joker was recognized with the Best Actor in a Film (Drama) award.

But perhaps the greatest moment for anybody still living in the year 2000 was the when Brad Pitt, 55, delivered his acceptance speech after winning the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
As Pitt joked and thanked those closest to him, ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, 55, could be seen looking on with a coy smile.

And, naturally, Twitter users exploded after noticing Aniston looking on at her former beau, with many wondering if there was a chance the pair could be getting back together in 2020:
User @lucyontheg tweeted out: "Jennifer Aniston laughed at Brad Pitt’s Titanic joke, she smiled when he talked about his parents, her former in-laws and smiled multiple times. 2020 and I’m sitting here still believing there’s a chance".
Another user tweeted: "Can Brad and Jen just get back together already!? The way she looks at him and him stating on stage that he’s not dating anyone says it all. My heart just exploded..."
Prior to the event kicking off, Entertainment Tonight host Kevin Frazier told Pitt that many fans are hoping to see a picture of the former couple together at the show, to which the actor replied: "I'll run into Jen, she's a good friend. Yeah."
Brad and Jennifer first met in 1998, and went public with their relationship on the red carpet of the Emmy Awards in 1999. But after tying the knot in a lavish Malibu wedding the following year, the couple split five years later in 2000 after Pitt started a relationship with his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie.
They both provided the below joint statement addressing their breakup:
"We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months."
Ricky Gervais certainly didn't hold back when it came to savagely roasting Hollywood's biggest celebrities and organizations last night as he hosted the 77th annual Golden Globe awards.
From Martin Scorsese to Apple and Disney - nobody was safe from the Brit's sharp tongue.
However, one actor who fell victim to a pretty brutal gag was Titanic legend Leonardo DiCaprio.
During Gervais' opening monologue, he took a moment to compliment the 2019 epic movie The Irishman. But while commenting on the film's 3-hour-and-30-minute running time, The Office creator couldn't help but make a sly dig at DiCaprio.
Fortunately, DiCaprio took the joke well, and was shown laughing along with everybody else (which is more than what could be said for Tom Hanks).
And as a result of the verbal low-blow, Twitter exploded with comments praising Gervais for daring to make the brave joke in the first place, and DiCaprio for being able to see the funny side:
And - if I may throw gas on the fire - there's actually a lot of truth to Gervais' comment. Below is a graph of every woman the Inception actor has dated in the last 20 years:
As you can see, the Hollywood legend has never dated anybody over the age of 25 - with his current girlfriend, 22-year-old model Camila Morrone, being 23-years his junior.
Still, if everybody is happy, who are we to comment? At least he saw the funny side.
But perhaps the most scathing of all of Gervais' comments came at the end of his opening monologue. Taking aim at some of the biggest names in the industry, Gervais then asked anybody who would go on to win an award not to use their speech as a platform to make a political statement, saying:
"Apple roared into the TV game with The Morning Show, a superb drama about the importance of dignity and doing the right thing, made by a company that runs sweatshops in China. Well, you say you’re woke but the companies you work for in China — unbelievable. Apple, Amazon, Disney. If ISIS started a streaming service you’d call your agent, wouldn’t you?
"So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.
"So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent, and your God and f*** off, OK? It’s already three hours long. Right, let’s do the first award."
Chris Evans is one of the only pure actors we have left, folks, and he showed that once again by stopping a panel at Comic Con to pet a dog.
Evans, 38, best known for portraying the Human Torch in Tim Story's Fantastic Four movies, was answering a question pertaining to Avengers: Endgame at a panel at Seattle Comic Con, and with an extensive time travel scene making up the middle third of the movie, Evans was bombarded with questions from fans about the viability of the scenes in Avengers: Endgame, among other things.

First, he reflected on what it was like to play Captain America, and about the risk of it staining his legacy as Johnny Storm, Marvel's biggest hothead. ComicBook.com reported that not playing Steve Rogers would've been the biggest mistake of his life:
"But the truth is, Marvel has made a collection of films that even — had I not been a part of these movies, had I said no to these movies - it would have been the biggest mistake of my life. I consider these movies what Star Wars was to me. These are incredibly special."

One fan wanted Evans to clarify the rules on time travel in the movie (a fool's errand if there ever was one), and Evans was quick to explain that he didn't really have the background to explain that.
"You know, I'm not sure I can give you those answers. That's weak as s**t, but ask the writers," Evans said, squirming in his chair. "Look, I understand there's a lot of things you can question about the time continuity but if there's one thing I've learned about working with Marvel, they don't leave stones unturned. They really don't."
Then, as fan scrutiny reached fever pitch, one incredible pooch showed up to save him from awkward Avengers questions. It's very adorable.
But all in all, Captain America isn't looking forward to... not being Captain America, admitting the role will stay with him for a while yet.
"Moving forward after playing a role that means so much to me, I think any actor - even when I took this role in the beginning, there’s no denying that you play this kind of narrative in your head of being like, 'Well, am I gonna be somehow pigeonholed with this character?'"

But one thing's for certain: we'll never forget Evans' time as Captain America. "And in a way, along the last ten years, you can’t help but accept the fact that when you walk the streets, everyone’s like, 'Cap!'" acknowledged Evans.
Awards ceremonies are a rather big deal, perhaps even THE deal when it comes to Hollywood high society. Within that, the Golden Globe Awards, which just passed its 77th year, are perhaps considered some of the most prestigious of the lot. It's quite the spectacle and attracts much attention worldwide for more than just the screen-spanning delights! For it is the attire and choice of garments the stars of the modern age choose that garner so much attention.
Taika Waititi has had quite the last years across the board! The actor, voice actor and director have brought his unique dry-witted, easy-going New Zealand - Kiwi mantra to the big screen in manners hard to criticize.

It would have been amazing had he dressed as the excellent Korg from the Marvel franchise but alas, he did not, rather opting for a white-on-black look marking him as one of the sharpest of the night.

Mr. Murphy has managed to make suave and at-home-chic match here in comfortable class with Paige Butcher matching yet contrasting in her own albeit more provacative class. Well played.
Gwenyth Paltrow is one of the many household names featuring on this list. The 47-year old actress has had quite the career and near innumerable time in front of the fashion-obsessed lenses.

Paltrow always manages to look amazing regardless of her attire but let's face it, although this revealing dress by no means looks bad, it certainly boggles the mind.
I should think when the list of invites and attendees was given out fo the 77th Golden Globes, upon seeing J.Lo, many fashionistas and experts saw their speculations go off the charts at what she would wear.

Personally, I find the fact that this event was set just after the Christmas period to be NOTHING do with any semblance of INFLUENCE on any of the outfits on this list.

As seen above this wasn't the case, with a dress that looks inspired by Ancient Greece Or Rome and a crisp suit, its entry on this list is justified as going with the flow in the best way possible.
However, I will profess some confusion onto what that blue doo-da is.
Bright lights and sparkly dresses never go a miss on the red carpet and the Hollywood stage in general, and this next look via Saoirse Ronan nails the whole shebang.

If you're not going to capitalize on the "red" aspect of the giant fully rug of the evening, it is only fitting that color of the main event be utilized to its fullest! Or at least, this could well have been the mindsight Zoey Deutch, here.

The actress turned heads on the night with this flamboyant and perhaps confused golden jumpsuit for obvious reasons.
American television personality, stylist, and talk show host, Jeannie Mai managed to combine both delicate with both classic and dare I say visually robust attire on the night of the ' Globes.

What am I dithering on about? Well, much like what we saw with Lucy Boynton, the top half of her fitted and sleek outfit resembles and functional armored cuirass that says battle-ready as much as it does Hollywood-class.
Although the night was very much all about those who dressed up, some of the stars guested to walk the iconic red carpet in many ways dressed down and owned it. Enter Margot Robbie.

The actress showed off her trim and toned figure in an outfit that was provocative as it was classy. If you've got it, flaunt it and all that!
Once again, sometimes, looking the part involves dressing down or going for comfort rather than shock-value and/or attention-stealing and that is where Kathy Bates excelled.

The 71-year-old actress and director is most recently known for her string of roles playing characters of questionable moral and mental standing in the enthralling seasons of American Horror Story, so for someone who is used to seeing her don some equally questionable attire, adding her into this list was a must.
The daughter of both Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, 31-year-old Zoe hails from a well-dressed lineage, to say the least. So, really, its anyone's guesses on what she would ultimately wear on award night.
