A cruel viral tweet that was published in an attempt to shame Pierce Brosnan's wife backfired spectacularly on the person who posted it.
There's nothing sweeter than an internet troll getting the comeuppance they deserve.
Keely Shaye Smith, known for her successful marriage to Hollywood icon Pierce Brosnan, 70, became the target of a tweet reposting side-by-side photos of the couple taken over a decade apart.
The tweet, emanating from an account self-described as "campaigning against misandrist educational institutions who failed men," carried the caption: "Your daily reminder to avoid marriage."
Despite both of them clearly looking fabulous both then and now, the comparison focused on changes in Smith's appearance, particularly emphasizing weight gain, with an implication that marriage leads women to "let themselves go."

Despite the attempt to spark controversy, the tweet gained unexpected traction, reaching over 52 million people.
While the tweet sparked discussions about societal expectations surrounding women's appearances, many users diverted the conversation toward celebrating Smith's beauty and the strength of her long-lasting marriage.
"She literally got hotter," one person said, with a second adding: "Yes because staying a size 2 forever is the real meaning behind everlasting love."
"She's beautiful in both photos," a third added, while a fourth concluded: "This man is happy in his marriage and has spoken openly about how he loves her body and doesn't want her to change it."
The vast majority of replies supporting Smith received way more likes than the original tweet, and despite the original poster attempting to clap back, people really let them know that they were being awful.
"Our daily reminder that you’re a shallow chauvinist," one person retorted, while a second said: "She's still gorgeous. Get over yourself."

The tweet even caught the attention of American television personality Meghan McCain, who weighed in by stating: "You know he's obsessed with her, right? Like absolutely obsessed, talks about it in interviews all the time, and they have been married like 20 years."
Brosnan has consistently praised his wife in public, recently telling People: "I found a great woman in Keely Shaye. Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good." He has often referred to her as his "best friend" and "north star."
In essence, what was intended as a jab at Smith's appearance turned into a powerful display of support, and despite the troll's attempts to reply to those who clapped back at them, they were truly shown why they were wrong.
Just don't be an awful person, it's that simple.
