Demi Moore admitted to cheating on husband the night before their marriage
Demi Moore has admitted that on the night before her wedding, she cheated on her husband-to-be.
The Oscar-nominated star of The Substance was famously married to Ashton Kutcher from 2005-2013, but was actually married twice before that, to musician Freddy Moore (from whom she takes her professional name) and actor Bruce Willis.
And it was on the night before her wedding to her first husband, Freddy Moore, where she broke from bridal tradition, all the way back in 1981.
Why did Demi Moore cheat on her husband the night before her wedding?
Moore was just a teenager when she got engaged to musician Freddy Moore. She was 18, he was 30, and just separated from his first wife.
Writing in her memoir Inside Out in 2019, Moore admitted to an illicit hook-up with someone she'd just met while working on a film set.
"The night before we got married, instead of working on my vows, I was calling a guy I’d met on a movie set," she recalled. "I snuck out of my own bachelorette party and went to his apartment."
Explaining actions, Moore went on to say that: "Why didn’t I go and see the man I was committing to spend the rest of my life with to express my doubts?
"Because I felt there was no room to question what I’d already put in motion. I couldn’t get out of the marriage, but I could sabotage it."
Moore also admitted that, at the time, "I was a self-absorbed teenager who hadn’t been raised with a lot of respect for the institution of marriage.”
Moore would file for divorce from her first husband in 1984 - a little over 3 years since their initial wedding, with the divorce being finalized in 1985.
What happened to Demi Moore after she divorced her first husband?
Following her split from Moore, she dated co-star Emilio Estevez, to whom she was engaged before breaking it off.
Moore then married her second husband, Bruce Willis, with whom she shares three daughters: Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. Moore and Willis divorced in 2000 but remained close friends.
For her third and arguably most famous marriage, Moore tied the knot with actor Ashton Kutcher in 2005, although the pair split in 2013, with Kutcher going on to marry Mila Kunis.
Following a period of professional inactivity, Moore returned to prominence in 2024 following her starring role in satirical horror film The Substance, in which she starred as a fading celebrity, Elisabeth Sparkle, who takes an experimental injection to become young again.
The film was highly acclaimed and Moore received her first ever Oscar nomination for the role, though she would lose the Best Actress Academy– Award to ascendant star Mikey Madison, for her performance as a sex worker in Sean Baker's comedy-drama Anora.
