Sean "Diddy" Combs is facing renewed concerns about his safety after a reported incident inside his prison cell that nearly turned deadly. According to his close friend Charlucci Finney, the rapper and producer awoke to find a makeshift knife at his throat, in what Finney described as a threatening act by another inmate.
The Grammy-winning artist, 55, has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024. He was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
Finney told the Daily Mail, “He woke up with a knife to his throat. I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened.” He added, “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him.”
Finney believes the act was meant to intimidate rather than kill: “It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.”
Diddy’s legal team, including high-profile attorney Mark Geragos, had previously raised alarms about the dangers the star faces behind bars. They cited poor conditions and threats of sexual assault while asking that he be transferred to FCI Fort Dix, a lower-security prison in New Jersey.
During Diddy’s trial, his attorney Brian Steel described a separate incident in which an inmate tried to reach the rapper with a shiv, allegedly to gain "prestige" due to Combs' celebrity status. Finney said these events have caused sleepless nights for those close to the music mogul, especially as inmates often seek what they call "prison justice" against those accused of sexual crimes.
“Sean has kept a lot of this stuff to himself because he doesn't want to worry his family,” Finney said. “But if you're in jail and you've been charged with anything sexual, it's not a good place to be.”
Finney also spoke about Combs’ past drug use, saying it contributed to his current situation. “All this stuff that came out, the drugs and the abuse, I wasn't privy to that. Neither were his children. Around us, Sean was a lovable caregiver, a father, brother, a best friend.”
Combs' lawyers filed a notice of appeal on Monday and plan to challenge both his conviction and sentencing. Meanwhile, TMZ reported that former President Donald Trump was “vacillating on a commutation,” though the White House denied it.
Trump himself told Newsmax, “I would say so,” when asked if he would deny Diddy a pardon. He added that while he had once “got along with him great,” Diddy became “very hostile” during his presidential run.
For now, Combs remains incarcerated, and his team continues fighting for his safety and his freedom.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has hit back after reports surfaced alleging that the disgraced rapper was caught drinking homemade alcohol behind bars – just days after being transferred to a new correctional facility.
According to a report from TMZ published Friday, November 7, Combs (who is currently serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey) was allegedly caught drinking a DIY concoction made from Fanta soda, sugar, and apples.
The mixture, often dubbed “prison wine,” reportedly ferments for about two weeks before being consumed.
The outlet also claimed that prison officials briefly considered relocating the 56-year-old to another unit after the incident, but ultimately decided to let him remain where he was.
A spokesperson for Combs was quick to respond to the growing speculation, telling PEOPLE that the claims were completely untrue.
“There have been several false and reckless reports circulating about Mr. Combs,” the spokesperson said.
“He has not violated any prison rules. His sobriety and self-discipline are priorities, and he is taking them seriously.”

The statement continued, addressing the rumors directly: “This is only his first week at FCI Fort Dix, and unfortunately, rumors will surface throughout his time there.
"We ask the public and the press to give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth, and the grace to move forward in peace.”
A similar message appeared on Combs’ official X account on Saturday, November 8, calling the reports “completely false.”
“The rumors claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false,” the post read.
“His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family.”
The Grammy-winning producer was sentenced to 50 months in prison in October after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
He was transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn (where he had been held since his 2024 arrest) to FCI Fort Dix on October 30.
The following day, the first photo of Combs in prison surfaced, showing him in the yard of the low-security facility.

Combs’ legal team had requested the transfer, citing harsh conditions at MDC and asking that he be placed at Fort Dix for better access to drug rehabilitation and family visitation.
“In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix,” his attorney, Teny Geragos, wrote in the filing.
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who presided over the case, supported the request and recommended that Combs be enrolled in any available substance-abuse treatment programs during his incarceration.

In the early hours of Sunday, (February 2) music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs was reportedly rushed to hospital.
The founder of Bad Boy Records was cuffed by Homeland Security Investigations at a New York City hotel back in September and is currently facing federal criminal charges in an alleged sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
The music mogul, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, has been denied bail on three separate occasions.
According to sources who spoke to PEOPLE, Combs has settled into life at the detention center, spending time playing card games and basketball with fellow inmates during recreational hours. He also receives weekday visits from family members.
“He’s well-liked inside prison,” a former inmate told the outlet. “People are getting along with him."
Now, according to sources (via Page Six), the 55-year-old entrepreneur was taken to the emergency room around 3AM on Sunday by his security team.
He began experiencing severe stomach pains so the hospital conducted a series of tests and determined that Diddy was suffering from acute gastritis, likely triggered by a combination of stress and poor dietary choices. He was treated and released later that morning, with doctors advising rest and a modified diet.
A representative for Diddy has not yet commented on the incident.
Diddy, known for his influential career in the music industry and various business ventures, has maintained a busy schedule in recent months, including the launch of a new fashion line and ongoing work with his record label. It's unclear if this health scare will impact his upcoming projects.
Combs’ bid for bail has been denied three times. His first request was rejected during his September 17 arraignment, one day after his arrest in a Manhattan hotel room. On September 18, a second judge denied bail due to concerns about witness tampering. His third request, denied on November 27, cited the severity of the charges and the potential danger he poses to the community.
As more information becomes available, updates will be provided on Diddy's condition and any potential effects on his professional commitments.

Sean "Diddy" Combs’ Halloween prison meal has been revealed as the disgraced rapper will spend the holiday in jail.
Combs, who was convicted earlier this year on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, is serving a 50-month sentence.
He was acquitted of the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges, but his incarceration has been anything but uneventful.

This time two years ago, Diddy dominated headlines for his screen-accurate Batman costume, arriving in full character at The Highlight Room in Hollywood.
This year, his Halloween looked vastly different - featuring no costume, no guests, and certainly no champagne.
According to PEOPLE, the 55-year-old's October 31 begins at 6AM with a breakfast of fruit, a scoop of cereal, a breakfast pastry, and skim milk - sweetened only with a few packets of kosher sugar.
Lunch at 11AM will offer baked fish or black beans with rice pilaf, spinach, coleslaw, and whole wheat bread.
Dinner will follow after a 4PM headcount, and it will be a turkey roast with gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and bread and butter. Vegetarians could opt for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches instead.
Notably absent from the menu is Candy - a far cry from the indulgent spreads typically found at Combs’ lavish soirées.
He also missed a personal milestone this year: his youngest daughter, Love, recently turned three, and this Halloween marked her first trick-or-treating experience without her father.

Adding to the bleak atmosphere surrounding his incarceration, Combs is reportedly facing serious safety threats behind bars.
His longtime friend Charlucci Finney told the Daily Mail that the rapper awoke one night with a makeshift knife at his throat, the act allegedly carried out by another inmate.
“If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed,” Finney said. “It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him.”
Finney believes the attack was intended as a warning rather than an attempt on his life. “It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.”
The incident has added urgency to ongoing efforts by Combs’ legal team to secure a transfer to FCI Fort Dix, a lower-security facility in New Jersey.
His attorneys, including Mark Geragos and Brian Steel, previously raised concerns about poor conditions and threats of sexual violence within MDC Brooklyn.
According to Finney, Combs has kept much of his prison experience private in an attempt to shield his family from worry. “But if you're in jail and you've been charged with anything sexual, it's not a good place to be,” he added.

Combs’ lawyers have filed an appeal challenging both his conviction and sentencing. Meanwhile, speculation swirled around the possibility of a presidential commutation.
While TMZ reported that Donald Trump was considering a pardon, the president told Newsmax, “I would say so,” when asked if he would deny clemency, citing a strained relationship with Combs during his time in office.
For now, Diddy remains imprisoned. His next Halloween and possible reunion with his children will have to wait until at least 2028.
